Does anyone know if they made to Le Mans without breaking down?

I think the engine went pop soon after leaving the ferry in France I'm sure the full story will be in next month's mag

was a bit disappointed - loads of advertising coverage but nothing in the village

I felt a bit dissapointed aswell, especially after reading that EVO will be at Le Mans in a big way this year... Advertising on Radio Le Mans, and driving a kit car down to the race, wow (like, not many people do that!).

Oh, and there 1 double page on what essential to take with you.

Minimum effort to be linked with Le Mans.

Ditto the comments above - they could have done a lot more.

Must try harder.

Let's wait until they write about in the next edition. But very disappointed at the overall press coverage of the results and the race from the UK papers.

well, to be fair, I've had a reply from PT on our moans, hats off to him on his prompt reply

>>Hi Arthur,

Thanks for the email.

As regards evo's general involvement with Le Mans, I think the hope is to have more of a presence in future years. I was only really involved with the Westfield side.

Unfortunately the Westfield lost all its oil pressure (and quite a lot of its oil) not long after setting off, so that was that. The risk you take, I suppose, with an old A-series engine that hasn't run in anger for a number of years. Still, it was very depressing at the time.

A few of the long-termers made it down, but the Westfield was supposed to be the focus of our coverage this year, so it left us with rather a large whole to fill. We're now installing a reconditioned engine with the aim of making it to the Le Mans Classic next week. Fingers crossed....

best wishes,

Peter

I saw Richard M's Mustang and Catchpole's Golf on the way back and, I think, Barker's RS4 so hopefully there will be a few items in the next issue. Fingers crossed for the Westie, too

They were in champagne bar/tent later on Saturday night with some of our lot. Fairly quiet, not like last year when we managed to get Porter caned and spending on the EVO credit card

I spoke with Jethro a few days before we left and I know he drove the Stang down on Friday but we failed to meet up with him this year, something to do with too much drink and getting too cosy in hospitality to drive out to Arnage with us this year I think!

LeMans can be a bit samey to cover each year but I agree with you guys and feel they had a great new angle on it for this event! Let's see what's in the next issue but I was surprised there wasn't some sort of stand in the Village. I'll put it to the guys when I see them next.

The Westfield sort of broke it's engine according to this month's EVO and the car never got out of the UK

The Westfield made it down there for the classic though - it was staying in the same campsite as us.
