Despite the dull and dreary time we had this year , a work colleague wishes to join us next year.
Travel is restricted to him flying, and because of home being in the isle of man, liverpool, luton, manchester, london city or gatwick are the favoured departure airports.
Has anyone any experience of flying into (or close by) Le Mans from any of the above airports ?
Many thanks in anticipation.

I think he should be made to hitch all the way from the Isle of Man!

I'll offer the first leg on Friday 8th June from Douglas to Sheffield in my 78 Corvette. Going over for the TT fortnight before LM07 so giving the kidneys a massive 3 days to recover before being brutally set to work again.

Why can he only fly? My wife travelled by train, She caught Eurostar from Ashford to Paris then TGV from Paris to Le Mans. She was on the 17:30 out of Le Mans and was in Ashford for around 21:00 having spent over an hour in Paris.

I think flying scheduled is complex and potentially will take longer due to the need to go via Paris.

Ryanair fly into Tours and he could hire a car from there, which is a bit more convenient that Paris.

in answer to someones post about private planes.... yes, they do allow "anyone" to land, and its less than 10 mins walk from the track, they just need some prior notice. I flew down in a private plane my mate hired for the weekend a couple of years ago.. and between six of us it worked out cheaper than taking 3 cars !
Did miss the drive down though :-)

Dave,

Two of our crew get the Eurostar on Friday - if you get the right connection you can change in Lille and by pass Paris completely London to Le Mans takes about 5 hours and there is a free bus service from the station to the track.

Cheers

Last year my wife took the Eurostar and met me at the track, total time around 8 hrs inc connections etc, cost c.£120.

This year my dad had to fly back Saturday night, Dinard (Ryanair) was a couple of hours from the track and cost €20ish. Arse end of nowhere though with the associated fuel problems in rural France.

Fly into Tours.
Hire a car about £80.00 for the weekend
Done it many a time when helping parents sort there house out. Le mans is about 40 mins from tours on the new road.
