Hi,

Just realised the V5 has not yet turned up for the car.... I understand the tunnel people need to check it !!

Having never been on the tunnel before, can someone confirm that I am screwed

I cannot confirm that. I've never been asked for a V5.

Never been asked by them or any of the ferry companies so think you are alright there. Believe you are meant to have it with you to show to the Gendarmes if required. If it is recently purchased do you have a sales receipt or something. I know that if you have a lease car you can take a letter from the lease company stating your right to be driving the car, I suspect all they are looking for is proof that you are meant to be in that car.

Never been asked either on the bike or in the car. Used many times.

However you need your V5 when travelling in France, French PLOD get very spiteful if you don't have one, I would contact DVLA and ask what the options are.

In 30 years of taking a car to the continent I've never been asked to show any documents - of course tomorrow may be different....

Sounds like I am OK to get there then..... as long as I dont meet Plod somewhere in France!!

I will have the Speed Limiter with me, so should be OK.... If not she will just have to encourage the coppers to let us off :-D

Good to see that you received your documentation but I wouldn't have worried anyhow.It was't till we arrived at the campsite last month for the 24hr race that my mate realised his passport was out of date!

tunnel dont ask for it but police do if pulled, ive just sent for a copy of mine as I only realised i lost it 2 days before lemans, i got pulled (for going too slow but thats another story) and they wanted to see proof of ownership but insurance did me ok, they asked a few questions, then we were on our way.

im not going to try and play the big man, we where all doing 90kmh in a convoy of 911's on the toll roads (130kmh limit). . . . . . . . . . the french police have the right idea though, I quote.

"le speed limit en france est one tree zero, you where nine zero, you should be at least one three zero in a 911 for sure"

40kph under the speed limit on the motorway? Pull the other one, i saw you doing more than that on the roundabouts on the N138?
