This might be a stupid question, but what's the best thing to use as a flag pole, bearing in mind I've only got 2 more days to get one!

tent poles, assuming you have a spare one

Any of the above, plus old tent poles, old gazebo poles etc, all stuck together with Duck tape or something similar

Take an axe / saw and cut down a tree. There's some very suitable pine forests just past Tetre Rouge.
