Hi all,

First time poster on here

I'm currently in the market for a sporty hatchback and would appreciate some advice. I'm looking for something new/less than 2 years old, practical, with a bit of nip.

At the moment I m considering:

Cupra Leon

Audi A3 S-Line

VW Golf (sportier spec)

but I'm open to other suggestions - I'm not a fan of the shape of the new BMW 1 Series, so that's off my list.

The plan is for this to be our main vehicle initially, but longer-term it will likely become the second car.

I've spotted a couple of decent leasing deals on Select Car Leasing (but I can't link these for 14 days as just made an account).

Anything else in this bracket that's worth considering?

Cheers in advance

Why does it need to be under two years old, you'll be in the worst of the depreciation buy something like a nice i30N & it'll do everything you need.

Might be worth giving a little more detail about what you're after. I'm assuming you're not looking at an EV as you didn't mention them. How about hybrids?

How do you plan to finance it? You mentioned leasing but also that it may end up bring kept as a second car. Leasing tends to be short term so there might be better ways of buying.

Budget?

How much power is enough to justify sporty/nippy?

I don't think there's much benefit to be had buying up to 2 years old with many cars. You might get a better deal new.

How about a Civic?

Or a Corolla?

Either of those would make decent long term propositions.

If you're set on VAG then maybe include Skoda. Sporty Octavias are good and have loads of space if that's a priority.

Further details provided that I should've included in my original post

Budget is c.30k - would go slightly more if it was justifiable (S3 vs S-Line A3) etc. Thoughts over the past week are to purchase outright instead of finance (HP/PCP) as APR rates >10% don't really make sense in the current market

Don't mind a hybrid, will be an automatic. VAG is what I've had since I've been driving so that's why I've listed those models -

The 2 year comment was so it's relatively new without the new car premium / some depreciation already taken into account

Appreciate any thoughts

If you don’t like the 1 Series, then I would definitely go for either the Audi A3, Leon or a Golf. There all a nice drive and will hold their value well.
