Currently considering E class estate, 6-8 yrs old, 70k 'ish and from MB approved circa 20k....

However a '19 plate fully loaded one with 230k, 2 owner has appeared for £8.5k...m'way miles apparently so I'm thinking Wales > London airports possibly?

What could possibly wrong biglaugh

Convince me or otherwise....

Presume E220CDI & assume airport taxi. Unless the driver is coming out of the game then they'd surely keep running it till it was uneconomic or maybe they had decided it was about to be past that point.

Unless you've gone back through the old threads then this may be worth a read

In the photos anyway that looks to wear it's miles very well.

Very small dealer if any issues though and .....

From 36k to 211k in three years is some good going (MOT history).

I forgot to say it's interesting they mention a recent gearbox service in the advert too.

Definitely looks good on pics

All his pics taken on land local to him, the address is a side street although at the price I wouldn't expect him to be fixing anything

I have the same engine in a c class

The engines are pretty reliable (admittedly at more modest mileages)

Ad blu system failures are common - I wouldn't be surprised if that one has had it removed / disabled / mapped out.

Timing chain tensioner can be noisy, if so then replace (and possibly the chain too)

Otherwise expect suspension wear (it'll likely have had new bushes etc at some point) and perhaps the odd electrical gremlin.

Looks good !.

How long are you intending to keep the car and what mileage will you be putting on it? It's hard to comment otherwise.

A 7 year old approved used on 70k could easily lose £8k in two years for example, especially if you're taking it to 100k.

Edit: That's a rough old part of Cardiff BTW. I think your instinct is right

Electrical gremlins indeed. I know all about that since Boxing Day and still not fixed!

Lovely cars, engine is solid. Auto electrician who has mine in says not that reliable sadly and he would be right!

Merc approved used ones would significantly reduce the risk factor with the dealer warranty.

You can tell from the advert text that there's some accent thing going on

As prev mentioned - people wh run cars to high miles usually eek out every last bit of economical life from them before disposing.

That could well be a big ticket wallet hoover - chain, turbo, injectors, EGR, DPF etc

An MOT history ain't no promise of a good car

Looks like Premium Plus to get the Burmeister sound and optional roof. Shame they didn't go full leather but there you go.

That's potentially one that was traded in at a main dealer they wouldn't retail, that part of Wales is full of small time traders who get offered things like that rather than them.being auctioned.

It's not actually that many miles in taxi world, and could have been tested every 6 months, but that assumes a plated vehicle not a chauffeur one.

They wear the miles well and the 220d is very reliable. I did have some electrical issues on my new E class back in 2019 which were never resolved which I was a bit disappointed with, but otherwise it was a great car.

Yes.

I'd forgotten that when I bought mine (from a Skoda dealership) the sat nav didn't work - Dealer had it all replaced (from MB at significant cost)

Just to put this one to bed.....

missed out on the Edinburgh one plus 2 more and a 17k E class estate at MB Sheffield - deposit taken so dismissed it then phone call on way to Bath to say it was now back on sale

finally got a C class 300d estate, early 2019 (68) facelift, Dark Blue Metallic, nice spec, only thing really missing is opening sunroof but does have Pan roof.
top end of mileage i was looking at @95k but doesnt show it, off on train and bus to Bath to collect

Be really interested in how big the boot is in this, I need to carry 8 of the larger really useful boxes and more..think the E would take it, but the C is much more svelte....
