Hi everyone.

Just looking for some advice on if I should fight this or just except it.

Returned my 2 year Peugeot lease deal through manheim and been hit with a service not complete charge ,an alloy scuff repair, bumper scuff and dirt in paint.

Just recieved the invoice from the lease company so i gave them a call to discuss. Im happy to accept the alloy and bumper scuff. The service was done when it was asked and the dirt in paint is from manufacter as i have had no work done on the car. Even when the car was being assesed i couldn't see what he could see and the photos dont show anything either.

Just spoken to them to argue the service and dirt in paint. They are happy to wave the dirt in paint as a ''goodwill gesture'' but not the service if i dont raise a complaint. If i do then they will remove that gesture.

According to manheim my car was registered 31st Jan 24 and that is the first i knew of this date so my first service according to them is January.

I enquired about the car as a last min deal in Feb which was a cancelled order so was told it was in stock and had it delivered 19th march 24. From the messages/emails i have dealing Peugeot it was still at the Port 1st March. I wouldnt of got the car at registration even if I wanted too.

My paperwork wasn't completed till early march. They also had to rearrange delivery date due to sickness.
I booked the 1st service early feb 25 but due to them being fully booked they resheduled it for 26th feb 25 which i couldn't do due to holiday so was changed to 26th march 25.
Service was complete and it clearly says on my sales invoice next service is 26/3/26.

My dash warning was saying 6 weeks untill next service or 4131 miles when it was returned 19th feb.

The lease company are going off the registration date not when i recieved it. I wasn't made aware of that date until now. I have followed what i should of done and going by the peugeot paperwork and what the dashboad was saying.

Is this worth fighting or I dont stand a chance when it comes to registration date/ delivery date services?

Any help or advice would be appricated.

My take on it is that you need to confirm the 24th Jan registration. Look on DVLA site if you have no V5.
No doubt there is no service book these days.
It's up to you to get it serviced on time, irrespective of external influences like Dealers being booked up. That's part of your contract. If your March service was beyond what the 12 month indicator showed, then you're on a sticky wicket. You say you have proof that the car wasn't on the road in January - that's a help because you won't be able to prove the service indicator hasn't expired when you did get it serviced.
Mannheim do have a reputation for nit picking on lease return.

What does the contract that you signed stipulate re servicing?

It likely says 'in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule' or similar and that schedule likely says 'from date of first registration' or similar. That is a requirement of the manfacturer's warranty; unfortunately, collection dates etc are irrelevant.

If the manufacturer's warranty is no longer valid that reduces the car's value. I suspect that you're on a hiding to nothing, but it does depend on your contract terms.

The problem is, their basis for charging for damage or issues such as missing locking wheel nut key, missing/late service history is they (for the damage) simply pass on the "cost to fix" or the part cost if it needs replacement. And its worse for late services, because they simply make up a number.

They don't suffer that loss because they just bang the car through auction. If the auction houses analysed and shared their data on what various factors actually determine price, it would pretty soon be revealed that they insert 'bids' of their own on cars to prop up pricing, instead of running a genuine sale which might not meet reserve etc. About 10-20% of the time they end up "winning" the car themselves, so it reappears in the next day or so in the catalogue.

Your problem is, you can't just not pay, have them sue you (in a court, where they would need to prove their loss - see above) and then pay whatever the determined amount is, because they'll add a late payment on your credit file and/or a CCJ entry.

The best approach would be to bung a £20 note to the "inspector" for a clean report - the chance of their inspection getting audited is quite slim.

How much are they looking to charge you for the missing service?

Guessing its a lost cause but from what i read its.....

Peugeot manufacturer guidelines require servicing every 12 months or 10,000–12,000 miles (whichever comes first) to maintain warranties, with major services every 20,000–24,000 miles.

So my argument is I didnt know about the date of registration which was 31st Jan.
I got the car like I said in March 24. I got it serviced 12 months later in March 25. It was booked in for Feb but they cancelled the orginal date.
The onboard computer/ dash and invoice all said next service March 26.

They want £350 for missed service.

And I had no chance bribing anyone lol.........They were two jobsworths that went round it with all the lights, boards and measuring cards.

When did the service reminder come up for its first service?

I've just returned wife's lease to Manheim, only charge is for 'missed service' and is £210, I've challenged this as car asked for first service at c.18k miles / 18 months and didn't ask again (car gone back at 32k miles / 3 years old)

Manufacturer website is not clear as to when service was required says refer to maintenance booklet that is not online whereas Manheim are stating 12 months or 12k miles

Worst comes to worst ill just pay the fee, they were quite fair on a few scrapes and a small scuff on wheel
