Evening. I am considering changing my 2015 Defender 110 utility wagon for a double cab pickup. I have had several Hilux’s over the years and been pleased with them. However as this will mostly be used as a car I quite fancy something with coil springs all round.
I think the Nissan Navarra and Mercedes X Class are coilover at the back, but are any of the others? Thanks.

Done a bit of googling, it seems the Ford Ranger Raptor is coil sprung. Sounds like a decent vehicle from the reviews, but it can’t tow 3.5T and the ‘image’ is err, um… a little loud?
Considering a Landcruiser commercial too. Is there anything else that should be considered?

The navara and Mercedes are. I owned a navara for a couple of years and it s a bit better than the leaf sprung trucks but it s not massively better.
The leaf sprung amarok rides better than the Navara in my experience.

At the end of the day anything you can put a tonne in the back of needs fairly firm suspension.
A large 4x4 will ride better than any of them.

I think the Navara is leaf sprung up to a certain age (2017 maybe) and coil sprung afterwards.

My only other comment would be to note that the rear seats can be uncomfortable as they tend to be upright and have hard backs. My friend had a pick up as a family wagon and his kids hated the back seats.

Is the structure of the spring important? How the vehicle rides is the final test.

I've a Ranger and it rides like a car. (Unless I'm too violent over the speed bumps hehe)
