I'm surprised to see it's the AMG variant (though it doesn't sound like the current AMG).

Lotus said they were going to release a few special editions before they get replaced by the Chinese V8 Hybrid Auto.

I would like to see a higher tuned V6. But as the Emira came out already in a relatively high state of tune (it needed to for the extra weight and provide equivalent performance figures) there's not a huge amount of headroom left.

Emira - 400bhp - 430NM - 7000rpm

The highest tuned version of the Evora:
Evora 430- 430bhp - 440NM (Manual gearbox limited) 7200rpm
(Quite an uplift from the 276bhp original Evora)

The Emira may also be top limited for emissions reasons.
All means I doubt we'll see a V6 with any further meaningful increase in performance.

Now live on the Lotus site. Perfect spec for me, I would have everything apart for the sunroof.

416bhp. They even had to round it up for the 420 figure.
16bhp and 25Kg. That's like not having a bag in the boot. I doubt anyone could ever feel the performance difference while driving.

But it looks nice. Is there a price anywhere?

I think I saw the price as being £106K, but I may be wrong
The sun roof looks good, but I was hoping the Targa roof would be an option. However until the configurator comes online, no way of knowing if that is an actual option

It is in effect simply a gussied up Emira. Saw two years ago a carbon kit that was essentially this car and it was sub 5000 miles and £56k at the time.

This should have been launched three years ago for impact. Now they need this plus 500bhp which the car cannot cool so will never get with a warranty.

Except the wing top vents.... they look good unlike the Evora's nasty 430 versions which looked like you had fitted them yourself.

Lotus - sort your st out.

The 2028 car will have a hybridised V6 with over 500hp - already announced and I expect they know that they can cool it. Obviously we'll see a few special editions to keep up the interest in the Toyota and AMG versions for the next couple of years before they are retired.
Then they will have the 1000hp Esprit (let's hope they do call it that), so there's some life and interest in this brilliant company yet.

I adore the look of this and totally the best colour too. Also been wanting a Targa option, madness to me they didn't offer this from launch.

Not so keen on the AMG unit though.

It s certainly a lot of money, if the V6 was available it would be almost £160k with the RFL

Hilarious.

You can get a virtually brand new Boxster Spyder RS for £125k which is a far superior car.

Yeah - but the trouble with that Boxster Spyder RS is that it............ looks just like a Boxster Spyder RS.

Really? Seriously? Hey I agree that Porsche is a super-nice looking car. But.... Next to the Emira? Really? Seriously? You think? Oh well. Each unto their own I guess but put those two side by side and there is no way on god's good earth you're not going to linger WAY longer on that Lotus. imho.

Then there's the whole it takes 3 hours to put the roof up on that Porsche. Which sounds like a total faff/nightmare/something I don't want to be involved with. Plus if you spec them both up about the same the Emira's going to come in a good tens of thousands cheaper.

But heck.

It's a free country and at one point apparently over a third of the population were going to vote for Jeremy Corbyn. So what do I know?

While I couldn't conceive of paying that much personally, you have to ask what NA options do you have at the price? Plenty secondhand but precious little new unless your want a 911 - and perhaps you've been there and done that.

Expected depreciation may have a major effect on sales, whether it be lease rates or fears of depreciation of your purchase down the line.

£150k+ for a 2 litre 4 pot, you would have to be insane, however good it may look - and I've had an Emira.

Oh and you can only have the removable sunroof (for £5k hehe) if you have a black roof

That price is just one with every possible extra added on. The above mentioned Porsche would be much more. That's not how people will spec them.
