Just read last months Kit Car magazine. Am I alone in being thoroughly bemused by the rantings in Kit Car magazine directed at Which Kit Magazine? I take it there is bad blood for some reason but there's no background info to explain what's going on.

I'm not going to buy Kit Car any more because it's clearly the editor's personal soapbox and I'm paying for him to stand on it!

For my part I think it is time that both editors just got on with it.
Clearly they will not get on with each other.
The continual bit**ing is just a waste of magazine space and frankly
puts me off buying either mag.

Another vote for Totalkitcar. New online content every Friday, info often months ahead of the shelf-lingering rags mentioned in the first post. Not detected any BS either.

I spoke to Den at Exeter Show.

He told me there will be no more rants in Kit Car.

This last issue was the last!

Where have you been the last four years this has been going on....

Both Den and Vince Wright have now been barred from this forum....

However, Den has now promised to behave himself, he is a good boy really.....

And another vote for Totalkitcar Got to agree with the others, I subscribe to totalkitcar magazine (Latest issue has a feature on Cosworth Engines) which I understand is now going bi-monthly, and on Friday's, I get my 'fix' from totalkitcar.com

I have no affiliation to either, but have to say I gave up on Kit Car years ago - Nothing to read, too many adverts, pointless drivel, american articles...

bah humbug.

Got to say, the Editor on KC is Ian Hyne not Mr Tanner (Publisher). He (DT) has promised though not pursue his "crusade" with in the pages of KC and now wants to get back to what the magazine does best "Supporting and reporting on the industry". Don’t give up on her (KC), take a look at the coming issue's (even if its in WHSmith's!) I think you'll see a huge improvement and a change that hopefully you'll like. As for the advertising, well we cant turn people away if they want to advertise, if you have companies wanting to advertise with you do you say no? Its the same for your business I’m sure you wouldn’t turn customers away. Also I know of readers who have told me they buy the magazine for the advertising as well...here is an email to me recently to reflect what I have just said:

Yea thanks that is exactly what I was looking for, thanks for all your help.

Dear Kit Car Magazine

I am an avid reader of your excellent publication and have found it to be an invaluable source of information over the years. However, I am having a little difficulty at the moment which I am hoping you will be able to help me with. I've just had a new engine installed in my AC Cobra replica and would like to keep a service history log book for it but I cant seem to find anyone who is selling a blank service history book which would be suitable for what I need. Then I remembered seeing an advert for one in a kit car magazine I read a while ago. However, the latest issues don't seem to have this advert in anymore. Do you still have the details of the company selling them and if so could you please forward them to myself.

Yours sincerely

Mr A B Knox

Oh,...and for the record, Steve's magazine is spot on, he is extremely knowledgeable and his passion for the Kit Car Industry is second to none. In fact its his fault I work where I do now!!

Thanks for the links chaps. I'd not been in the kit car scene until I started shopping for a car a few weeks ago so it was a complete mystery to me. I'll give totalkitcar a go. I'm a sucker for magazines and I need the ads for the bits and pieces to get my new car sorted over winter.

I wouldn't touch either magazine with a barge-pole. And for one reason: All the childish bitching.
I couldn't give a hoot about cobra this and cobra that. I dont like spending my hard earned money on a magazine, only to open it and find it full of propaganda against another magazine.

Life has been much nicer around here since all that BS died down - lets keep it that way.

Did you get permission from that person to reproduce his email (and address) in an open forum?

Oops, no I didnt. I will amend the posting. Hey Eliot I'm not here for a fight, just wanted to say we are changing, and to keep an eye on the mag, you never know there may be something in it you like! Cheers

I too will add a vote for totalkitcar - money well spent.

The constant sniping cost Kit Car my support. Regardless of what Tombs has stated we all know that Den (who has had and my money for years) has ruined the reputation of a once great magazine and I for one will never buy or look at it again.

I saw a copy of Totalkitcar once, it had a few reviews of kit cars all saying how good they were, plus the usual adverts, so just a copy of Kit Car without the sniping. Don't buy any now.

What I do buy is PPC, Retro Cars and a couple of classic car mags as well as some specialist mags - there's usually more in them that's relevant to me and my cars than anything in a kit car mag. PPC is particularly entertaining.

Well its a shame that some of you will never buy or look at the magazine ever again, I am really sorry you feel that way, hand heart no one ever wants to hear that there product is not up to scratch in somebody else opinion. And like I said you can never please everybody all the time, you have a choice and I respect that.
