pedal box torsion spring

Hi guys

Anyone know a good source of torsion springs.
I have an XKSS kit. I've taken the pedal box apart to generally renovate it as part of a clutch cylinder change and noticed a missing spring.

It has to go over a 1" diameter shaft but apart from that I can engineer it to work. I thought I might be lucky with an ex landrover one, but they all have an internal diameter of 23 mm .

Currently stumped after a day of googling.

thanks, but unless I'm reading it wrong they don't do any torsion sprigs which would go over the 25mm diameter pedal shaft

Yes they do.

For example (there are others), this one has a suggested mandrel size of 1.013" (25.73mm):



They will also do specials (though obviously it will cost you).

ETA: The other obvious question is where the pedal box came from. It's highly unlikely to be custom manufactured by whichever company produced the original kit. Far more likely to be from a donor vehicle. If you can identify that, you may find that the spring is still available from a marque specialist, or second-hand parts available on Ebay.

In fact it looks so manufactured I was thinking of modifying with a bit of welding and drilling to take some compression springs

Luckily with your post I might go back and try and organise a more elegant solution

Man, I feel your pain on this one. I ran into almost the exact same issue rebuilding the pedal box on my Series III a couple years back—thought I could just grab something off the shelf, but that 1" shaft size is tricky. Most places only stock metric or standard sizes that don't quite land right.What I ended up doing was going custom. Springmasters can make pretty much any torsion spring you need, and they're used to dealing with oddball stuff like this. Worth a shot if you're tired of hunting through Land Rover bins.
