Currently I just have Freeview. I'm wondering which TV channels I need to be able to watch NASCAR and Indy Car. NB. UK resident.

I don't think you can on Freeview.

On sky, MotorsTV has Nascar (cup) and Bloomberg sometimes shows Nascar too. I'm not sure about Indycar, I've always watched that online (as it's free).

I believe Sky has Indycar this season. I'm really looking forward to it this year, especially if Rubens signs up. Ways and means of watching if Sky isn't on offer.

BitTorrent.

Personally I'm more than a little disapointed that ESPN haven't been making any of their NASCAR coverage available through VoD on BT vision - wall to wall drag racing is all good and fine but it would be nice to have something else for a change...

Yay! It was the Motors coverage of the Nationwide series that got me started following NASCAR, glad they've picked it up again after NASN / Setanta gave up then vanished. While it was often possible to find a live stream, for races in the evening Eastern time that meant staying up to past 2am to watch the start and sometimes it would be dawn by the time the races finished.

I use this all the time, as I can't afford, nor have any desire to line Murdoch's pockets. Thing is it streams the American channel, so you get all the US commercials, which 99% of the time are either for food, or viagra.

I have the Nationwide Insurance jingle in my head as I type!

The ones I love are the ultra low budget "Crazy Bob's Discount Car Bunker" type that look like they were filmed on a mobile phone.

They don't show the full length NHRA drag racing coverage either (or at least not on Freeview) do they? but its still available on ESPN's VoD service throuigh BT Vision.

I'm guessing the rights for VoD would be cheaper than live broadcast and with no requirement to sacrifice anything else (i.e. football!) to free up time in the schedule it kind of feels like it ought to be a little more doable than live broadcast would be..

There is 120 & 180 minutes of NHRA qualifying and race day on over the next week.

I presume its the live broadcast from the States replayed over here the following day...

Nascar coverage isn't good but their indy car is.

So, just to summarise, we've got:

Indy - Sky.
NASCAR Nationwide Series - Motors TV.
NASCAR Sprint Cup - Premier Sports.

It'd be great if one of them picked up the Truck Racing - in a way it's my favourite of the three big NASCAR series.

Sorry for the thread bump, but is it still the case that Indy car is only available on Sky?
