Road insurance - who do you use?
Discussion
Andy, William and Ashley,
Thanks so much for the advice. I knew some of the Challenge cars were referred to as TVR Sports, but I didn't know it applied to all TVRs. I'll change my paperwork to suit, before I send it off to Swansea. I'm trying to do mine the fully legitimate way, but we'll see if that gets rewarded by a slap in the face by the DVLA. I've contacted A Manning (as advised by Andy) and will look at the other two first thing tomorrow. Hopefully someone will give me a sensible quote and I can begin the paperwork process with the DVLA. Fingers crossed they won't leave my dreams in tatters!
Once again, thanks for the help.
Ta very much..... Rich

Hi Rich, Just to clarify
All TVRs up to Griff / Chim were listeed as
Maker TVR
Type Sports
They didnt make enough to be made to specify.
This changed with the Griff Chim
The road going Tuscan Challenge cars were giving the chassis numbers that followed on from the Tasmins. They were therefore listed the same as Tasmins...ie Sports.
TVRolets lovely car is built from new (unused parts) and as such was over the percentage required to be allowed to be new and therefore cary a new plate.
Original cars were F1** OTA mine was F151 OTA. Ashley owned it before me!
It looked just like yours and was confused for it several times.
There are Colin Blower colours, there were several.
Cheers and good luck

Andy,
Thanks for the extra info. I followed your advice and contacted A Manning. They really know their stuff, were very helpful and very competitive. So, the insurance is now sorted and it's just DVLA and getting a V5 to deal with.
As you rightly say, it's the ex-Colin Blower rent-a-car driven by the likes of Sir Tiff Needell and Simon Flude. It's all been returned to it's Colin Blower / Harrogate Horseless Carriages / Vauxhall Vova colour and kept as near to it's original spec as possible. When the thing's finally on the road, I'll pop a few photos of it on here for you all to poke fun at. Definitely not up to TVRolets standards, but better than the box of bits I started putting together 5 or 6 years ago.
I've done as much of the work myself, but have to say without all the advice from the likes of the fantastic Steve Howard, Dom, and a few of you current racers, I'd have never finished it.

hi Rich
could you pm your contact at manning if you don't mind.i asked mannings for a quote early last year for mine and they declined to quote me and said they only insured Andys car as a one off and would not repeat the cover for another car.
