Support race for the Birmingham F3000 "SuperPrix". I think it only happened in one of the years of that race. IIRC there were about half a dozen event for them that year, backed by the factory - a couple of races and a few rallies and hillclimbs as well. Someone with better recall and access to records will correct me I'm sure.

Think it was 8788 after group B was banned from international rallying . The RACMSA permitted the 6r4 challenge on selected rallies and a couple of races , bot only for derated "clubman"spec machines , 2.8 single plenium etc. Twenty or so would turn up to rallies so the poor sods like me in a grp4 Escort never stood a chance . Oh well ,they were good to watch .
I was there but such an impression did it make that I can't recollect any of it. Probably because, brilliant though a 6R4 is on a stage, it 's a bit pedestrian on track. Especially compared to the Formula 3000 cars which were the feature race and which were seriously fast. At close range- and you could get within 6 feet of cars in at least one spot at Brum - the 3000s were amazing. I still see the odd 6R4 racing and rallying.
