Discussion
Renault said doctors consider the first phase of his recovery over and the Pole will now start heavy rehabilitation aimed at restoring the functionality of his hand.

Seems very unlikely he'll be back in a car this year. I wonder if he'll ever make it back to F1 after a year out ? Mind you Heidfield didn't drive in 2010. Equally I'm sure he's just happy (and very lucky) to be alive.
I would of put money on Kubica ended up at Ferrari in 2013/14 and a possible world champion.
Let's hope he can make it back at some point.

Agree with all you wrote, F1 feels very different without him this year. it's cliche now to say "Imagine what he could have done with that Renault" but I do think it's a worthy sentiment.Let's hope he can make it back at some point.
WRT joining Ferrari, how will that work with Alonso? I can't imagine he'd be happy alongside one of the other 3/4 fastest guys on the grid...again. I would love to see Kubica become WDC, I think he deserves a great season. The spectacle of having him and Alonso at Ferrari would be a pretty epic one though.

Why? He's had a massive crash before and he didn't slow down at all.
He walked out of hospital the next day after his Canada crash - severed limbs are a bit different! If I read the coverage right he's still working to get full functionality of his hand back, let alone the performance required to drive an F1 car competitively. He has a long long way to go...
