Advice needed

Hi


For the last year I have been studying a Motorsport Engineering course at Coventry University. I found it very difficult on the maths side of things so decided to leave.
I am trying to figure out my next options. I was thinking of doing another course been looking at doing a Foundation Degree in Motorsport Engineering at Warwick college or a Motorsport Technology course at Birmingham City University. Has anybody got any experience on these two?


The other option is an apprentices I have not seen many of them around in Motorsport. Anybody got any information on these.

Engineering maths can be very hard at times, have you considered studying another subject that can still be useful in motorsport?

Remember that the bigger teams will employ a whole range of people, from cooks, to physiotherapists, to truck drivers.

If you want to be 'hands on' with the cars an apprenticeship may be the way to go, it might be worth contacting a few local teams to see if they run any such schemes and have a look in the back of Autosport.

I only really want to be a mechanic or engineer.

I have looked into apprentiships I can't find any motorsport releated ones.

I've only studied motorsport engineering at national diploma level but I've found that motorsport apprenticships either don't exist or are never advertised.
To get into motorsport you seem to have to know people or send out lots of emails etc saying you'll work for free just to gain experience.


The warwickshire college that does that foundation degree isn't the best of colleges in terms of facilities but the majority of the lecturers are very clever and always helpful from what I found.

I can't speak for motorsport, but for professional engineering, you would need an engineering degree. This includes the engineering maths, regardless of whether you'll use it in the job. There's quite a difference between roles of a mechanic and an engineer, think carefully about which one you're best suited to and which one you really want to do.

I think maybe a mechanic is the best option for me.

When I was at uni I got all the help I could I did a lot of work on my own and with other people on my course but I still did not get it.
