The Raikks Progress
Discussion
Kimi Raikkonen made his debut in NASCAR trucks last week, finishing a creditable 15th. This week, he's entered the Nationwide series race, and there's talk of a Sprint Cup entry at Sonoma (a road course).
From watching the truck race last weekend (big
to Premier Sports tv for showing that), the Americans are loving the fact that he's there. Wonder if he can eventually do what JPM hasn't been able to do yet and win on an oval?

I enjoy the trucks and Nationwide series more than the main Cup races and will follow his progress with interest. Piquet Jr was in the trucks at one stage, but not sure if he's racing this season.
He's still there, not doing brilliantly, but did finish quite high up a few races back.rallycross said:
Im following this with interest it's great he is off trying things ex f1 champ tries WRC, NASCAR could still go back and be quick in F1, hope to see him have a go at BAthurst, Le MAns maybe get to see him have a go in a rallycross car as well who knows?
Could we see him take on Indy as well, try to go for the triple crown?Got way more respect for him, and any other driver/rider that tries different disciplines. Too many, especially F1 stay in their cosseted world.
Raikkonen, Rossi, Loeb, McRae have all explored different types of motorsort. In fact both Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas are doing their national Rally Championships in a Porsche 911 GT3....
Remember Vic Elford won Monte-Carlo, Sebring within a few weeks of each other, also drove in F1 and Le Mans........

I doubt he would do great in current F1 - nowadays it is more focused on health and safety, hugging trees and thinking of children and their future than racing.Forums | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
