But wouldn't you be pissed off if you'd booked your time off work, got your non refundable flights and hotel for the 28-30 October and now they're talking of moving it to December 11, 2 weeks after the Brazilian GP !!!
This has all come about the cancellation of the Bahrain GP.
However, I'm sure it's just Bernie making the right noises before they knock Bahrain on the head for 2011 (hopefully forever).

What a joke all this is, they need to cancel the Bahrain Gp outright and move on! Its a long season as it is and now there is even talk of the Indian Gp being moved to December the 11th, the day of the FIA prize giving gala! And what if the trouble starts again and they cant hold the race again, the sport would look rediculous, not that would be the most important thing if it does.

With some of the things the teams are saying, I get the feeling they think the same thing - bin it for this year and move on.There's been growing concerns since Monza that teams would be taxed for earnings and equipment whilst in India. Now looks like drivers will also be taxed on earnings !
In other countries the circuits effectively becoming "bonded warehouses" which gets around local tax issues.

The Chairman of Central Board of Exise and Customs told PTI that an exemption could not be granted since India did not consider the grand prix an even of national importance.
"When equipments are imported for sports events of national importance, the Sports Ministry issues a certificate on the basis of which Customs Department issues exemption notification subject to them (equipment) getting exported back. For Commonwealth Games and the (cricket) World Cup, those certificates were issued, so we gave exemption," said S D Majumder.
"In this case, the Sports Ministry has not given any certificate, so there is no question of granting any exemption. As it is, they are entitled to get duty drawback up to 98 per cent on the equipment imported.
"So effectively, they will have to pay only around 2 per cent. This is not an event of national importance so no such exemption is required."

Who knows - I don't really understand why F1 is in India in the first place. Well I do, someone rich is paying for it. But how can the promoter make money on it, when the majority of the local population can't afford a ticket.
I can't see many overseas tourists going to India to watch F1 !!

Salaries in the major India Cities are not that bad if you are skilled. The difference is there is a huge salary gap between the skilled and non-skilled worker. I can't see many overseas tourists going to India to watch F1 !!

I'd be surprised if Bernie hasn't been on the phone trying to sort this one out, I wonder what the agreements between the teams and FOM say about taxes ? Would the teams just pay the taxes ?
Neither the teams nor FOM are going to pay tax to the Indian Government.
Cancelling the Indian GP wouldn't be out of the question. Both the driver and team champs will be sorted after Japan. Can't see anyone really interested in going, esp if they're not going to get their full wage packet from it?!

I'd heard that the tax situation is far from sorted; and also bear in mind that it's not just company/corporation tax, but also personal tax liability for each and every employee; so they would have to pay tax on (I think) 1 months worth of salary 
Also heard that a some team members and even some drivers have had their visas rejected!
How much of this is true - I really personally don't know; so take it with a pinch of salt

Getting a visa for India has always been a pain. The staff are arrogant beyond belief and look as if doing any work is beneath them . They rarely answer the phone too.
Passports go missing and they do not care. It has taken a Year for my mother to obtain a replacement Indian passport.
