It seems Ken Block will be on the grid at this year's Monza race in August ... Is this a good or bad thing? Additional publicity for F1?

I'm sick of seeing Ken bloody Block's face popping up on anything Motorsport related.

This is just a test, the Monza race isn't until September.

Pretty sure I heard Martin Brundle mention he was driving Pirelli's car this week in Spain.

Come on now, who can honestly say you've never wanted to see someone drift an F1 car?

This is Ken Block. The entire tyre test will be devoted to fiddling with the setup to make it go sideways rather than fast. Making smoke all the way around the Parabolica is going to be rather epic.

He's driving Pirelli's test car at Monza. He's not racing, its not in Spain and its not next month. The car is an '09 Toyota I believe thats been altered to bring it closer to this years cars. Knowing Ken's luck, De Grassi (Who is testing the car before Block) will have an almighty smash and put it to bed before he gets chance to try his hand at driving it

Full story on F1 website

I think Gymkhana 4 on the Monza banking and infield, like Gymkhana 3, in an F1 car would be great drivingthumbup

Lets hope he doesn't drive it like his rally car, Pirrelli could do without picking it out of a tree.

Great stuff. F1 needs more characters like Ken.

Is it just me, or does he look like Beaker from The Muppets in that first pic on the F1 website?

Kobayashi already has the drifting covered.

Ken Block has far more talent for marketing than driving.

Ken Block is a modern day Tiff Needell, with better marketing.

Tiff can drift a car all day long for fun - but wasn't all that when put in competition cars.

This winds me up. There must be hundreds of drivers who deserve this opportunity more.

It is all about marketing, nothing more nothing less. You are correct though.

He's very marketable, especially in the USA. It's not going to be anything about going fast.
