Ladies and Gents, what are the options for camping this year? I'm not seeing any WRR who I've used previously

The Britcar site links to a 1st-For-Tickets site, the official provider. Are there other options? .....Not that I have any issue with 1st for tickets

Yes, 1st Tickets are the official provider for camping at the Britcar 24 Hours. We were selected by Britcar Limited to be the camping provider for the event earlier this year.

1st Tickets is an established bonded tour operator and official agent for the Le Mans 24 Hours. This year we helped approximately 2500 people with their ticket requirements for the Le Mans 24 Hours. As well as the standard camping packages at Le Mans we also provide and manage the PistonHeads/1st Tickets private campsite for the Le Mans 24 Hours ( PistonHeads at Le Mans 2011).

Camping will be available from Friday to Sunday. The site is close to the current grandstands and pit straight within the circuit perimeter. There will be two sizes of camping pitches available, standard pitches will be 40m2 and maxi pitches will be 60m2. You will be able to park your car next to your tent and there will be toilets and showers on the site.

We are planning to have catering and drinks sippliers close to the entrance of the site, but these are still to be discussed with the event organisers.

If you are planning a large group or a club event to the Britcar 24 Hours, we will aim to allocate your group with adjacent pitches so that you can all camp together.

Camping is sold as a package with entry tickets and programme, but if you have already taken up one of the Britcar ticket offers, you can still buy your camping pitch on it's own.

Please note: As access to the campsite is via the main entrance of the circuit, you must have valid general entry tickets for all of your group.

See it jumped from £50 for 4 persons pitch to £150. Pitty as White Rabbit racing made a good job of it for the last 3 years i wait to see if its so full this year, I dout it as the gang that we had following us (4 pitches) are not coming or are going to just do the race night and go home at best.

Thanks for the support Mick. I must admit it is very disappointing to find out via the BC24 website that WRR has been dropped after three good years of consistent growth without so much as even a courtesy phonecall or email from Britcar. At their request we founded the camping for the BC24 for free taking the associated financial risk at an initially unproven event and, I think, did it well. We controlled and ordered the campsite but never hearded campers into pens and stood out in the rain with a smile and a greeting for all!

We've met some really excellent people along the way, many of whom I think we could now class as friends and I'm pretty sure I'm not flattering myself in thinking that at least some came back for more due to the interaction our team always has with our customers - we've certainly always enjoyed many letters of thanks after each event despite the hideous weather at times! There were never any official contracts with Britcar which I thought suited them as they could rely that we were there and getting on with it without any demands or getting in the way and allowing them to concentrate on the important task of running the race!

Shame to try and fix something that wasn't broken and I certainly speak for the whole WRR team that we will miss it for sure. I guess thanks still due to Britcar for the three years we did have.

Just to clarify, the price of £150 is not just for a camping pitch. It is for a large 60m2 pitch, including four general entry tickets and a programme voucher. This equates to £37.50 per person for camping and general entry (with a race programme per pitch too).

The standard 40m2 camping pitch with general entry tickets is £60 per pitch, so the like for like increase is £10.

The reason for the increase is that we are adding toilets and showers to the campsite, to compliment the permanent facilities at the circuit. Plus to cover our staff costs and Tour Operator Bonding and Merchant Services charges.

Britcar 24 Hr Limited, have given us a great deal for entry tickets, which is significantly less than the "on the day" admission price. This, along with including a program has enabled us to put together, what we believe, are value for money camping packages.

We do hope that you and your friends will decide to camp again this year and will enjoy the Britcar 24 Hours in a similar fashion to previous years.

OK, as a customer of WRR for the last two events (2008 & 2010) I've always purchased my entry tickets elsewhere and only purchased camping tickets from WRR for a group of 3-4 pitches. We are car club members and also do the Parade lap etc. I already have my entry tickets sorted for BC24 2011 so only require camping tickets - how will this work or am I missing something?

Hi Stuart,

You will need at least three camping pitches/permits as each permit acts as the vehicle pass to the circuit. With there being fourteen of you and seven two man tents, you may want to consider the larger maxi pitches (approx 60m2 per pitch). This will give you an area of 180m2, which should be more than sufficient for the seven tents and three cars.

Based on 3 maxi pitches plus special delivery, you would be looking at a total cost of £262.50, which split between the group, works out at £18.75 each.

Alternatively you can mix and match between standard and maxi pitches to meet your groups needs.

Did I read somewhere the Car Park shuts at 10pm?

Wasn't going to bother with the Camping and just drive home for a few hours kip but if they shut the carparks early I won't get to see much night action....

I too am sorry to hear but not supprised you found out second hand thats the way things seem to be done these days at Britcar HQ.

I was also wondering about this, I'd rather leave the car parked up and stay at the circuit than camping. Can anyone give more details?
