Aside from the notable exceptions of Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen, there's not a great deal of crossover between the All-American, ever-so-slightly-yeehah world of NASCAR and the super-serious technology-driven world of F1.
Well, we say swapped rides, but McLaren didn't exactly ship over their latest offering (that would count as 'testing' and thus not be allowed). Instead, Stewart got a go in the 2008 MP4-23. Tight gits. But then that was a championship-winning car, so we doubt he minded too much...

...But it's only for a day
But the gulf between the two motorsports was crossed the other day as 2008 F1 champion Lewis Hamilton swapped 'rides' with double NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart at the historic Watkins Glen circuit in New York state (which, unusually, has hosted both F1 and NASCAR races).
The event was masterminded by Mobil 1, who describe themselves as a 'shared lubricant technology partner' (which sounds vaguely unpleasant to us), and you can see how the chaps got on in the videos below...

I've never met him so i'm not going to comment on his personality however i will mention that i have never seen a driver overtake in the tunnel at Monaco before. He has performed 30 overtakes (approx 10% of all overtaking in F1) this season so its law of averages he is going to be involved in more shunts than anyone else. Maybe the press et al would be happier if we went back to the days of watching a prosession every other sunday where it was difficult to have the 'highlights' 30 mins long... Also pretty disappointed by Moss and Lauda's comments they were obviously exaggerated by the press but still a pretty poor show from two legends.

It would be interesting to see what they actually had to say about each others cars, genuinely. I'm sure it was a great experience for both drivers, especially for hamsta, as he is an open wheel chap.
