Camping at Silverstone – British Grand Prix

Hello,

My brother and I are heading up to the Grand Prix this year, we have Club Silverstone tickets for the 3 days. Can’t wait! We’re now looking at sorting out camping and I’m after some recommendations. So far I’ve found…

Whittlebury park Golf Club
Silverstone Recreational Association
Hamilton Fields
Dadford Road Campsite
Windmill Farm Campsite
Litchlake Farm Campsite
Silverstone Golf Club

Any reviews or recommendations for these? I would like a quieter campsite so we can actually get some sleep and be awake early enough for a shower and breakfast. Also I’d like a decent shower if possible! Is that possible?! Noise up to midnight or 1am is to be expected, but I’ve read that there is loud noise in some sites until 4am or later, which would get on my nerves! I want to be awake for the GP seeing as I’ve spent £1k on two tickets!!!

We’d like to walk from the site to the circuit too.

Whittlebury is the kind of one size fits all and probably has best availability of all this close to the weekend.

I tend to choose to go into the overspill area, which is in the feild behind Kennel.

Its a little longer walk, but is quieter and the facilaties are not as busy.

Windmill campsite, sod all facilities really, temporary loos and showers (surprisingly clean), brilliant atmosphere, 5 minutes walk to Copse entrance

Over the years I've used the SRA site, the Hamilton fields site, and last year, the Woodland site. The SRA site is nice and handy for the white horse pub ( nice grub, good for a piss up) and has a "village hall / social club" vibe (good food, cheap beer and nice people) Hamilton fields is right by the famous "welcome to Silverstone please drive carefully" road
sign. The woodland site is ideal for the circuit, and has a new purpose built clubhouse now.

Ok, I'll give the reviews on SRA and whittlebury a better read tonight.

+1 for Whittlebury Park

Stopped at the Becketts part for the MotoGP, clean tidy and regularly patrolled by both police and park

I haven't been for a couple of years, but stayed on Kennel at Whittlebury Park.
Not too noisy.
Showers were good, but got a bit busy around 8:00.
Easy walk to the cicuit.
Reasonable entertainment in the beer tent.
Bar food was OK, as was breakfast. (2nd year we went we BBQd)
Some nice cars outside the hotel.
You might get to see some of the drivers leaving/entering the hotel.
