"Cuban driver Jorge Galtes stopped his Ferrari 500TRC at the crash, searched out the wounded Cifuentes and, with the help of the marshalls, carefully laid him out on the Ferrari's bonnet. As he was about to drive off, Galtes heard a familiar voice and, to his horror, spotted his 12 year old son lying injured on the ground. He was loaded into the passenger seat, then Galtes motored back to the pits to find an ambulance."
Read that today and actually let out an involuntary groan of despair. That must be almost heartbreaking.
Story comes from July's Classic&Sports Car on the 58 Cuban GP. What is also amazing is that they actually have a picture of Galtes laying Cifuentes on the bonnet of the Ferrari, must be moments before he heard his son cry out. The accîdent in question killed 6 and put 40 in hospital.
Oh and someone kidnapped Fangio.
