Applications are invited from outstanding individuals to work on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Sheffield and Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd. Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd are currently expanding the application of their magnetically loaded electromechanical flywheel storage systems which have been developed for the Formula 1 Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) to aid the stabilisation of power systems. As part of this project, you will work as part of Sheffield's Electrical Machines and Drives Research Group in developing an engineering design tool that incorporates high-fidelity computer models of both flywheel storage and power systems in order to analyse dynamic performance and develop robust control strategies.
