support races silverstone
Discussion
Can anyone who was either at silverstone or was able to watch on tv (only have freeview)
explain how the pits/startline thing works with the support races?
I know the support races use the old paddock/garages but heard they use the new start line. Now, this raises many issues in my head as the teams need to transport a load of kit to the grid which would be on the other side of the circuit. Do they also then use the new pit lane during race time or do they then use the old pit lane during the race, which is now half way round the lap. If this is the case then how did this situation play out:

as if they use the old pitlane surely those cars that pitted on the warm up lap would have to be held untill the field passed, effectively going a lap down? or else they would effectively get a flying start as they caught up the to grid which would probably have left the startline already?

Well I was sat in Club so can answer your question.
Just after Stowe is a slip road. I used this slip road when I did a Lotus experience a couple of years back to get onto the circuit.
Well, before the GP2 race what comes out of this slip road? A convoy of Quad Bikes pulling trailers with all their bits on.
There end the mystery of how they get stuff from one end of the circuit to the other

3 brits on the podium and still barely any government funding for the sport... If they put even half the money into motorsport they do into athletics... well, world domination! lol

well some of their money that they seem to be throwing around at the olympics would be nice... even if they dont actually have any to throw!!
Are they throwing money at the Olympics?I thought it was funded from the lottery?
Motorsport is ptetty well funded as it is, as by its nature, it is a commercially funded operation. I would prefer for the sport to stand on its own feet rather than have to jump through hoops to satisfy imbecilic government edicts - which is exactly what would happen if the government were providing the readies.

Looks like Mark Webber didn't have a terrible weekend then with his team winning and even though he was told to keep position got a podium.3 brits on the podium and still barely any government funding for the sport... I wonder how the logistics of MW Arden work with him and Horner.
