All This Exhaust Blown Diffuser Guff Is EasilyFixed For 2012
Discussion
Yes. Ban it!!! As Martin Brundle said in his commentary on Sunday the solution is simple - ban it all together & simply have the exhausts coming out of the back of the engine & the back of the car as they always used to.
He also said that he would like to see the 'throttle by wires' banned & have the cars revert to a throttle cable as well as giving the drivers three pedals & a manual gearbox.
Something that i have been banging on about for years. Proper race cars with a proper gearbox. Then we will see just how good the likes of Vettell really are.

Yep, but it's only in recent years they have been messing with the off throttle mapping. We had a blown diffuser on the FW21, but it was pretty crude & suffered massive balance shift between on & off throttle, so we dumped it by Silverstone & raced the FW21B.R500POP said:

Getting all the teams to agree to such changes in the middle of the season isn't. Many of them have designed the whole rear end and engine setup with blown diffusers in mind. They weren't illegal at the start of the season, why should they suddenly be made so now?

They're one step ahead of you. In 2012 the regs will specify periscope exhausts out the top of the bodywork again like they had a couple of years back, precisely because it's a fairly aero neutral place to blow it where the gases don't really give you any positive or negative effect.

Because the FIA think it's the sole reason RBF1 are so far ahead.
I agree. But if it isn't this, as is clearly demonstrated with Silverstone, where is RedBull getting that performance?
I thought it was Renault (I refuse to call them Lotus) who had the best blown diffuser? They certainly seemed to lose out most at Silverstone.
Thing is at Silverstone Redbull were not as dominant as normal in the race. A Ferrari even won! Hard to say how much the lack of a blown diffuser cost RB as Silverstone might have just suited their car anyway, and they probably had massive perfomance in reserve anyway (looking at Vettels domination this year I think he has not had to push very hard in most races).

Well he did all right in the reasonably priced car. Current F1 cars can brake from 200mph in 7th to first gear speeds in an unfeasibly short time frame. Would any driver have enough time to change down manually?

I agree......Fiat never did get them to work properly though, did they? Getting all the teams to agree to such changes in the middle of the season isn't.
