I am looking for a hotel or a b & b close to Silverstone for next weekends Classic race meeting - i need somewhere for me, SWMBO & our 6 year old son for next Friday & Saturday night.

Plenty of rooms for Friday but nothing close to Silverstone for Saturday - anyone got any ideas please? Only stipulation i have is that i dont want to stay too far away as we will be at the concert on Friday night at Silverstone so it needs to be somewhere close for when the small person falls asleep & SWMBO has had enough.

Northampton/Milton Keynes are quite a trek so got to think of the little one.

Also dont want to pay stupid amounts of money as one hotel chain within a mile of the circuit are asking for £130.00 per night just for the room with breakfast being extra.....

Thank you.

Last year around september time I stayed in a placed called Slapton Manor, it's just past Abthorpe about 5 miles from the circuit.

http://www.slaptonmanor.co.uk/

Very friendly family run place and IIRC around £45 a night for a double room (not sure where you'd stick your son though?)

Hope this helps!

Camping could be a cheaper option (though weather/wife's views on camping could be a problem hehe).

Your welcome, I'm not entirely sure if the £45 was a flat rate or whether it fluctuates depending on what is happening at silverstone etc.

i dont have a tent & i have no inclination to either own one or use one.

love the snoozebox idea although somehow i think it is a touch impractical for my needs.

It's a new product/brand that was launched at the British GP. I confess to knowing some of the individuals behind the brand (one a highly successful and accomplished property developer/hotelier). The idea came to him whilst in repose in a soggy tent at Le Mans last year.
It is a very clever concept that has been fleshed-out properly and developed with a strong eye for design efficiency and attention to detail. It will really blow-up next year (Le Mans, Goodwood, Monaco GP, Olympics etc). I know I'll never be tenting it at Le Mans again....

Jesus, its not cheap is it! Convenient yes, clever, very but think I'd prefer the tent action! £325 for 2 nights!

Did they actually show one of these portable hotels at Silverstone? All the pictures on the website and brochure seem to be computer generated and all it says about the GP was they were planning to launch there but no actual pictures of the thing. Seems all a bit vapour ware so far.

Somewhere in Northampton? I know you said it's a bit far, but I live right in the middle, and the office is at Silverstone. It's only 25 minutes on a weekday morning.
