Ok, I may well be totally unaware, but F1 is moving channel?!
There was a story a few weeks ago about it being too expensive for the licence-payer to afford. The BBC themselves didn't really say much about it; it seemed to be the start of the TV rights negotiating from Murdock rather than a story with any major substance behind it.The viewing figures alone would suggest it's a popular and successful program.
Channel 5 is being talked to apparently as well so we could get Tiff and Plato with Vicki Butler Henderson in the pits …...but adverts aghhhh the adverts aghhhh
also why do you have to give so much info on the petition surely name and address is enough for a petition? dont get me wrong I think it should stay on BBC as they have done wonders with it.

I doubt channel 5 have the OB facilities to handle it. It means they'd have to outsource, which I bet will cost more than the Beeb can bid. Because of the unique way in which the BBC is funded (TM) I think it could still stay on the Beeb.also why do you have to give so much info on the petition surely name and address is enough for a petition? dont get me wrong I think it should stay on BBC as they have done wonders with it.

Precisely. Any 'campaign' for signatures is a complete waste of time. Bernie doesn't give a s
t.
the BBC do, because they have to, though. witness how the decision to can an entire radio station was turned around. The BBC trust have to listen to the audience on matters like this, so people do have a say. If you think the BBC ought to show F1, tell them.

You say that as though Tiff, Plato and VBH would be a good thing?! I can probably only think of one combo that would be worse than those three: Hammond, May and Clarkson.FFS, I'm now imagining F1 With The Fifth Gear Team. Oh it's horrible... MY MIND'S EYE! MY MIND'S EYE!

With that bunch I might well be looking forward to the ads.also why do you have to give so much info on the petition surely name and address is enough for a petition? dont get me wrong I think it should stay on BBC as they have done wonders with it.
Bernie consistently says free to air so I guess there's too much dependent on that in f1, but don't some countries have a rubbishy basic FTA plus premium sub service? I wonder if sky could buy the rights provided they let channel 5 or whoever show the rubbishy basic coverage/highlights show. I doubt channel 5 has the $$ and sky the will given the cost to viewer ratio you'd be looking at if it was double broadcast.
So let comercial TV have the tennis, plenty of time for adverts in between sets.
You can't have adverts in a race, unless they had it as a side bar maybe so you could still watch? Would be incredibly annoying still though.
If F1 goes back to commercial it mean having to record it to avoid the adverts again.

Knowing how Mr Ecclestone works, if Sky were to offer 1p more for the television rights, Id wager it would be gone.
Then you clearly don't know much. As part of the concord agreement F1 has to be on free to air tv. Bernie actually values what auntie has done for the coverage, viewing figures are up massively. He only wants it to continue on the BCC. This petition should be aimed at the bbc not pulling its coverage as we are the people who ultimately pay for it.I would be extremely disappointed to see the F1 move. The banter between Jake, EJ & DC is top stuff and I will always go out my way to watch the post-race forum if I have the time. But as mentioned above, adverts will be the major annoyance if it does move. Fingers crossed it doesn't!

Sky would improve the coverage further like they have football.
Yet even if that were the case, the reduction in viewer numbers would see sponsorship revenue decline and the smaller teams would be the ones to suffer. As things currently stand, the only reason why I bother paying a TV licence in the UK, is to watch F1 . . . for me no F1 on BBC = no more TV licence
