For coming to Castle Combe with a fantastic Grid providing some superb racing and some proper GT cars.

So from the regulars at Combe thanks very much for making the effort to bring the 'BRITISH' endurance championship to where 'OTHERS'don't seem to want to come due to the noise restrictions none of which are put in place by the circuit..................just PLEASE come back nextsmile

I'd like to thank the Combe regulars for the support! Great crowds, great marshals and officials and a really, really good event all round! The weather helped too! Having a grid walk for the race was superb.

Cheers!

Macg - TSL Timing have results. I'm working on the Racing Exposure report, although I still have a lot of holes to fill. Does anyone know what happened to the Azteca Mosler, or who took off the Rapier?

I saw the Azteca Mosler scrapping with (I think) the Rapier going through Folly, get a massive tank slapper, spin and hit the barrier nose first. They got going again only to retire a little later. This wasn't the cause of the Rapier spin going into tower towards the end. Not sure what happened there.

The Azteca finished the race despite what appeared to be terminal damage to one of the front wheels. Javier looked all set to sit out the rest of the race when I believe the bloke in the recovery truck worked out that the locked up wheel could be released allowing Javier to limp back to the pits. The Neil Garner team then set about the car and managed to get Manuel out for I think the best part of an hour. He certainly crossed the finish line but I don't think he was classified, possibly for not completing enough laps but I don't know enough about the regs to be sure about that.

You have to complete 75% of the distance of the winner of your class in order to be classified if I remember correctly.

Thanks to all at CC, enjoyed every minute of it as is always the case when we get the chance to race this great circuit. Really gutted that our team mates in the Azteca/Garner Mosler had the off as it look odds on that they would take the win but as a joint team, we took a double whammy for when I took over the 997 from Jay, we were in 1st place overall which was amazing for a class 3 car. Within a few laps it became obvious that we had a problem with the gearbox and although I'm not as quick as Jay, I felt that we had an excellent chance to hold position or at least give the big boys a fight for their money. driving

Then it happened, the smell of gear oil was so strong it was making me feel ill, this was followed by a loud bang, the tinkling of various gear parts and the complete loss of 5th and 6th gears. For a lap or so I had a box full of naturals, 3rd finally agreed to participate although quite reluctantly and with an noise accompaniment akin to a wailing banshee.I took a chance and tried for 4th gear, to my amazement she worked so that was it really, another 25 /30 laps with only 3rd and 4th !!!!!

Anyway, st happens and as it turned out it was worth screaming around on the limiter as we finished 2nd in class and 7th overall, not bad for a partial DNF

Cheers all, hope to be there next year.smile

Can I just add my sixpennyworth here and say that in my opinion CC is the best circuit we race at and has,for me, a real festival feeling with the racing spread over 4 days gives us all a chance to relax and with the track day on Friday an opportunity to take friends/wives/girlfriends round the track- I wish all tracks provided the same arrangement- my mate obiwonkywhatever drove a blinding race making it easy for me to finish and there was I thinking I overtook Rod by skill, nerve and supreme ability!- oh well-better luck next time..

I love Castle Combe and always have. I started racing there in 1979! It has long been regarded as a top TVR Tuscan track and I think most of us TVR drivers would love to come to Combe despite the big accident a couple of years back. The problem is not noise. Britcar take the whole venue with their support races. We are not big enough to do that but taking cars from all over the UK we are not going to go to a circuit where we are only offered one 15 minute practice and a 15 minute race for not much less of an entry fee than our normal double header. I am sure that if Combe can arrange a 20 minute practice and two 20 minute races as we get at say Brands Hatch, Donington, Oulton etc the TVR's would be back. We had 23 cars at Donington for the WTCC meeting and we raced on a Friday!

Hi Hugh.
I think many of the support races were in fact CC races and not brought along by Britcar, so it may be worth speaking to CC directly about getting on the festival bill for 2012 like we did in 2009. I think the TVR races complement the Britcar racing very well as they did at Rockingham and CC in 2009.
