I won't miss F1, who's with me?

I quite agree. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I've been banging on for years about how crap F1 is. Stupid wings, stupid adverts, stupid rules, stupid circuits, stupid points system, etc etc etc. So when it commits suicide next year, as far as I'm concerned it won't be mourned.

After all, it existed for many years before it dumbed itself down and out of existence. And I can build models of the old cars, I can read books about them, I can watch videos of the old races, I won't miss it.

Anyone else agree?

I won't miss it because I will still watch it.

I watched it for 15 years before BBC deigned to show every race live so I can watch it again on that basis. It won't be as good - but I'll manage.

I WON'T be taking out a Sky Sports subscription.

I will give up on F1 if it gives up on me - by moving completely to pay TV.

I'll be off, doubt that they will miss me though, I hope they realise what the have done, every long time F1 fan I know says they will find something else to watch.

I'm wth you bro. When they cut an episode of Eastenders because of it, I decided it was a load of balls.

All joking aside, I have no interest in it. I used to watch it when I was younger but it never really turned me on. I'd rather watch rallying (proper rallying, not that high money WRC balls) where men are hanging the arse 6 inches away from trees, or just go down to the local stock car track and see real men racing real cars.

But people do watch F1, everyone just has their own thing.

I can't see the point of people turning up on these particular threads telling us they never watch F1. If that is the case, then the changes in 2012 will affect you not one jot - so why bother commenting.

I enjoy watching F1 have done for many many years but not that much that I am willing to pay SKY for the priveledge of watching it.As a license payer I thought I was already paying seen as I dont watch anything on the BBC other than the news and the odd documentary.

The fact is that F1 is the be all and end of everything and if you don't agree you are wrong and, what's more, you should be ashamed for posting this kind of blasphemous rubbish on this sacred forum. If you don't want to watch F1 there are plenty of garden centres open on a Sunday where I'm sure you'd be very welcome.;)

I will watch the beeb shows, but I will never take Sky so I will miss those races, but I will likely forget when the BBC races are on or have other things to do so I am making the most of this season as it will probably be the last full season I ever see live

Sadly, I agree.

However, as I said before, I will be able to go back to my pre 1992 habits of watching F1 - which is doable.

The racing in F1 has been terrific over the past few years, spoiled only by the corruption of the FIA.

The TV coverage by the Beeb has been tremendous.

All good things must come to an end though; shame it was so short lived.

I agree with Eric. I won't leave F1 but F1 might leave me. I pay enough, one way or another, for the sport. I shan't pay more.

I'm going to miss the Beeb's F1 team more than anything else; IMO they have the perfect setup right now but that'll all be gone next year (I suspect). Not sure who will be presenting/commentating on TV next year but I'm hoping Davidson and Croft will still be covering it all on 5live.

I guess that like a lot of race fans i dont want to pay Murdoch & his merry men anymore than i am already paying them however at the end of the day i will probably end up paying what they want simply because i have followed F1 since the 70's, i love the sport (business?) & i want to continue watching the races live & not some cheap stty 'highlights' programme cobbled together by the BBC.

The problem is that F1 is now all about 'The Show'....Whereas it should be about being 'The Pinnacle of Motorsport'. But that wouldn't be as interesting to the 'casual viewer/Joe Public' who Bernie is more interested in. In some ways, F1 has 'sold out'.
I'll still follow it, but not like 10+ years ago, when I wouldn't miss a race, and purchase all the weekly/monthly F1 mags.
Now I'm more interested in Sportscars, Rallying, off road motorcycling as 'proper' Motorsport.

This is quite an interesting comment - because every long term fan I know is working out ways to watch all 20 races.

I for one plan to point a second satellite dish at a different satellite and watch it on German TV with radio 5 commentary - total cost should be less than £100.

For me it is a bit different. I watch with a number of friends. We go round to each others' houses in order to ensure there are no F1 widows, although most of the wives are fans as well. The younger members of the group have families and cannot afford Sky, especially now I would assume with the hike in gas and electricity prices. Further, only one other of the group has Sky Sports and he lives alone with a massive debt of child support and wife support. He will probably get rid of it as he's had no pay rise in two or three years, and he's paying more for his kids.

I've got SS. I wouldn't mind them coming around 10 times each year I suppose but I'm not sure they would feel happy with the imposition. Two are life-long supporters of F1 and the rest are fairly recent - post Todt's Ferrari - and I can see them dropping off.

So who is with me? Not so many next season I think.

For UK F1 fans this is nothing short of a cultural earthquake and something from which F1 viewing in the UK will never recover.
