Those things are designed to stop a following car being flipped over from rear wheel/front wheel contact.

Isn't it always the case when the danger is taken away like that, the contact increases because there's no longer a chance of flipping a car?

Might be for the roll hoop structure, a bit of aero and the advertising space

I quite like it. The bit at the back may well be to stop contact, but they've done a fine job of using it to smooth off the air off the rear wheels.

Why would a turbo not have an air intake above the driver's head? They've still got to get their air from somewhere.

Looks better with the speedway kit on. With a bit of momentum I can't see those guards behind the wheels stopping much

He was most likely thinking of the older turbo indycars and even the older turbo F1 cars which didn't use normally aspirated engine style airboxes.

It looks like an Ariel Atom with body panels added. Horrible looking thing.

For a show-car at a launch with (presumably) lots of media there, some of the finishes on theose panels is awful. :/

think the plan is for teams to cloth the car in their own design body/aero kit.
