Anyone think the current BTCC cars look crap?

I love touring car racing, 10x more exciting and interesting than that f1 b
ks, but the cars these days are just so damn ugly and horrible. I mean, the Civic, Chevvy and even the current paint scheme on the independant vectra's are all horrible. The only ones that looks reasonably nice, are the bmw's, and even they look a bit boring in white, much better in rac orange.
Even Rob Austins A4 has his name plastered all over the side like some seedy porno sign.
Get some decent stuff out there

Yes. The current breed look crap, dull & boring.
What would we, the paying public prefer to see? Unexciting Honda's, Chevrolets, etc or RS500's, M3's Rover SD1's, Ford Capri 3.0's, Volvo estates?
No question. M3's, RS500's etc.
Faster, better looking, rear wheel drive, John Cleland, Jeff Alam, Andy Rouse, Win Percy, Tom Walkinshaw toname but a few.
Much more exciting & always will be.

In reality it's probably the only series doing ok for itself

Where did i say anything about the quality of the drivers, or the quality of racing? It's just as good as it was, just with sAnother thread knocking BTCC and how good super touring was.

NO actually.
Whilst the series is rather hollow without a stunning Italian based touring car I think the new NGT Toyota looks fantastics as well as the Proton.
Full grids and excellent TV coverage cant' be bad.
I just really wish Alfa would wake the hell up and start racing something instead of wasting money on that pithy Giulietta advert in the breaks between the races! I mean how much did that cost?

Its not the lack of well designed graphics, if you look at the pictures in the OP you'll notice how none of them have a major sponsor - they all have the manufacturer's logos and thats it. The privateer teams of the same era looked a bit ropey too because they had to find sponsorship instead of just relying on pretty colours, and they are never going to get a cohesive design if there are two big sponsors and a dozen little ones to cram on the car somewhere.I think the Silverline Chevys, Hondas, Team Chilton Focuses, and the Pirtek Vectra all look pretty good though.

In the United States of NASCAR whilst the cars look generally the same, they still look bad-ass:
Compare that to the Chevy's which look massively average, which one would you rather see tearing around a circuit near you?

That is what the btcc and touring cars is all about production based models battling against other production based models either being 4dr, 3dr, coupe or even an estate not some american race car that has nothing in common to its round going version. If i wanted to see "bad-ass" cars i watch gt racing not nascar.The Chevys are remarkably ugly. Quite fond of the Vectras and Civics though.
Agree the old Super Touring cars looked cool but its unlikely we'll go back to those regs any time soon. They were scrapped to save costs IIRC.
I'd prefer cars which more closely resembled the road cars like they did pre-Super Touring in the 90's. No silly wide arch body kits and big spoilers like now.

Shame i can never catch it in the UK and the races take so long. Cars do look good though.
