Well, seeing as the Calendar announcement has scuppered our Turkey plans for F1 next year, Hockenheim is in as a possible alternative.

So, who has been to Hockenheim? Where's good to sit (were thinking Grandstands), where did you stay, how did you get there? Any recommendation of things to do or things to avoid?

Pretty much any advice at all from anyone. Were thinking of driving there.

Cheers

? I'm well aware of all of that?

I'm on about actually going to the race to watch it.

Ive been to Hockenheim we drove and its a long way. Stayed in a campsite next to a Motorway service station if I recall had General Admission at the end of the long straight and it was HOT!

We have just come back from driving to Spa and back. Took about 4 hours from Calais to Spa. Google Maps reckons about 7 hours from Calais to Hockenheim. Is that about right?

Sounds about right, drove past Hockenheim Ring on sunday on the way back from Austria.
The track is right against the Autobahn and there was a motorbike race on at the time, also past by M. Schumacher's karting track near Koln, again it is right beside the autobahn.

Ok, so it looks driveable in a single (all be it boring and long) day.

Where have people stayed? We did Camping F1 at Spa, which was ok, but a Hotel would be nice providing there's somewhere to go out in the evenings. Whats Hockenheim like as a town? Are there any nice towns near by to stay?
