Speedway ?

Went to a local derby lastnight, Wolves v Birmingham and the result went to the last race with Wolves winning.

Only my second time in many years and wondered what the general thought was with bikers re speedway as did not see many on the carpark.

What really pleased me was that i could take my two children to watch, no swearing and a really friendly atmosphere between both sets of fans and i could have a beer overlooking the track and cheap entrance price compared to rip off football tickets.

Great night and would recommend as a enjoyable family night out although the season is apparanty almost finished,

Havent been to a speedway meeting for many many years - used to go to Coventry & Wolverhampton back in the day.

From what i recall it was a great night out trying to avoid flying shale from the track or, on some occasions, flying bikes as well!!

Seems to have lost its popularity now which is a great pity.

NMot been for many years.

Used to be a regular at Wimbledon.

The Kiwis dominated then with Mauger, Briggs and Moore .

Been to a few meets over the years though I don't know if the cars here are the same as yours - seeing a pack of firebreathing, wheelstanding 800bhp/750kg sprintcars trying to squeeze through the same space is always exciting though!

Ahh, bike speedway - I see! Think they do that down here too but I've never watched it, only the odd sidecar race mixed into car meetings. Impressive skills to hang it out like that on 2 wheels!
