Just how much is dependant on having a good car!!

How much is driver and how much is car? Would Alonso in a Red Bull be as dominating as Seb is just now? So, all drivers in the same car?

Bit more to it methinks, some cars are made to compliment driving styles
Some drivers can adapt, some need the car changed to them

Its very easy to name the top drivers, but you just dont know who else could jump into a good car and adapt to it very well and very quickly

I'd even put a quid on Petrov or Ruebens in a level playing field.

Interesting idea. Don't give them the best car, give them one with issues, and see who can drive with the issues.

If you gave them all an under performing car it would again be between Lewis and Fernando in my opinion.

Both have proven that they can drag a bad car around and 'out perform' it.

I still think Lewis would take it.

When has Lewis dragged a crappy car around? Apart from 2009 He hasn't really had a crappy car, at least not to the level of a Renault, or the like.

I agree with this. For example look at Fisi and his brief spell in the Ferarri. He just couldn't get used to the car. He was in fact faster in the Force India before hand.

I believe though the stand out drivers are Hamilton and Alonso. But then how could you argue not to have Button or Vettel?

LH in australia in 2009 is the best example.

With the Sauber being so easy on tyres, it's a sensible assumption to make that it's difficult to get the tyres to temperature properly in one lap, which may explain that.

As loads of people have said, Hamilton & Alonso are the top two racers currently, I couldn't try to seperate them but IMO they are the top two.

Only disqualified because he drove the wheels off the car and overtook - legitimately as it turned out!

I agree with Hamilton and Alonso as the ones who would do best in a poor car whatever the conditions. Over a race distance not sure would be best, it would be very close.

Well, a few drivers have overtaken lots, or come from crappy positions. I don't think it means too much in this situation.

Saw an article this week and it seems most of the teams Kobayashi would like to get into have looked at the relative performances of him and Perez and are not impressed.
