As well as all the new metal us mere mortals will get to drive, Mercedes and Audi have unveiled their A5 and C Class Coupe DTM cars at Frankfurt.

I like this new look, less of the complex aero, and the huge rear wings. Let's hope the racing is good!

Not a fan of the old dtm cars and even less of a fan of the new dtm cars. I dont get the need for stupid wings and all the aero crap on the front end. The old dtm during the 90s were much better looking cars and better racing the new cars nor bmw will make me want to watch the series i never been so bored watching a series than i have with dtm.

Wouldn't say it's boring, no less so than F1. It's not quite so good now the Brits aren't so competitive, would like to see DC doing a bit better. And they have V8 engines, which makes them sound great. It's got its pros and cons against BTCC, but nonetheless, I'll pretty much watch or race anything with 4 wheels and an engine, so its something else to watch.

BMW are coming back next year smile . Will there be any manufacturers in the series other than Mercedes, Audi and BMW?

I'm not as familiar with DTM as I used to be. Is this still an open formula? Or is it going to be a silhouette class like what Nascar are and V8Supercars want to be?

As far as I'm aware it is just Audi, BMW and Mercedes. And yes, it is pretty much a silhouette racing series, they only look like the cars we can actually buy; all built around a common safety cell IIRC

I understand there are a greater number of shared standardised parts than in previous years. I think the prospect of a three-way battle is tremendous but must hope the racing improves. My suspicion is that things will improve because tactics will become less linear with an extra marque to spice things up. All the new cars look terrific - can't wait for Brands 2012!

Im afraid you will have to - they are not coming to brands in 2012 , think they are going to boring silverstone instead, not impressed!
