DTEC Lap records...?
Discussion
whilst looking for a LR at S/stone national for Perry who's racing there today, I noticed that Graham has the lap record listed as 2011.
We havn't been there in 2011.
Are they there for any series?
Can Mike/Danny be listed for all their races?
Classics not listed?
Northern * series?
Thought they were just DTEC LRs

Hi Andy,
Hmm sounds like there's a problem in there somewhere I'll have to take a look at.. The last data we have from Silverstone that I'm aware of is from 2008 I think when it was very wet IIRC. The track layout has changed though has it not, so any previous lap records wouldn't be a valid comparisson?

Nope, the 2008 one should stand if the circuits changed (eg snett LR to snett200 LR etc) Both should be listed.
Not saying he hasn't done the time, but it wasn't a dtec race so not dtec LR. he just happened to do Sstone nat in a Tussie.
Perry did it today in FClassics. Would THAT be a dtec LR? Nope.

Dunlop TVR European Challenge is not the Dunlop TVR Tuscan Challenge Andy. Sadly.
However, I do have a couple of trophys that say DTTC rather than DTEC.
Two different series. Would be good to link the two though. I think Caine and Gugs hold most? But Danny and Mike have beaten several with bigger tyres and aero.

Whilst on the subject, well done to Perry for a creditable 9th at Silverstone - first Challenge car to race with the CSCC Future Classics (running road legal tyres as well).
..
If my red Rover car survives a Northern Monkey (as Andy so eloquently describes it
) race next weekend i will try and enter it for the CSCC Oulton round again ..( we quallied in Future Classics at Oulton a couple of seasons ago but suprisingly
- mechanical failure saw that we never raced).

Will maybe see you there Daren. Testing Friday and racing Saturday. Good series with good grids and some quick car driver combinations!

Same series, different name and rules amended to include all TVRs. The old TC lap times are the benchmark. It seems very odd to me to say they aren't... What is the rationale for that? However, I do have a couple of trophys that say DTTC rather than DTEC.

Hang on, do you mean the LRs off the website or off my points sheet? Sorry I'm offshore so can't really check at the moment. If its from my points sheet then there should be only data from DTEC races and therefore the silverstone entry will be an error in the sheet. The last time DTEC raced there was the first year Mike Saunders came out (07 or 08?). I haven't put those years into the sheet yet though so the lap times won't be available to view...Not saying he hasn't done the time, but it wasn't a dtec race so not dtec LR. he just happened to do Sstone nat in a Tussie.

I had an excellant days racing with CSSC a friendly well run club.Loads of track time half hour qually and 40 min race with enforced pit stop.It would not suit some as you have to get out of car then get back in again as quick as you can.great fun racing with other old jelopy's some were really quick the camaro and the two aston martins to name a couple.Entry's for Oulton close this wednesday for future classic,s.only rover power for tuscans no holes in bonnet.Racing on road tyres in the pouring rain was an eye opener.as a note i raced in the 15 min sports car verses saloons race as well but not much fun up against caterfields lapping 10 sec's a lap quicker. If anyone wants more info let me know.

On sober reflection, and thinking about the logistics (i.e last entry date , and the fact that ive just realised im not a CSCC member this year and i dont know if car will be race ready after sports/saloons race etc etcI managed a 5th overall at Anglesey last time out on knackered tyres with even more knackered driver - 40 minutes driving is a long time!!

) i dont think i'll be racing. But definitely be there on the race day to spectate and provide moral support John.
Hi Nick, on the DTEC site you have me down as having the Class C LR for Brands Hatch Indy. It was actually set by Sam Head in 2007 with a time of 55.839 secs. Don't think the circuit has changed since then?
Also I believe the Class C LR for Oulton was set by Micky Holden with a 1.58 something, although that was in a V8 Taz but at the time V8's were allowed in Class C.

Yes, this is purely because I haven't entered the data from pre 2009 yet. I need to get a list of race meets from pre 2009 so I can go on TSL and copy the numbers into the spreadsheet. Once I do this, the LRs will all update automatically. Also I believe the Class C LR for Oulton was set by Micky Holden with a 1.58 something, although that was in a V8 Taz but at the time V8's were allowed in Class C.

Don't forget they have more power to start with than the TC cars did!
Nick, I thought the power/weight ratio of a t/c car 850 kg average (without driver) 430 bhp some say 450 bhp but working on 430 is that not 505.88 bhp per tonne ?
Dannys car weighs 1060 kg (without driver) and made 390@ wheels, Elete say 7% loss through their sc gearbox is about right, thats 416 bhp flywheel thats 392 bhp per tonne, even if it made the same as the race AJP V8 (which people on other tvr threads don't think is possible) it still has 100 bhp per tonne less than the tc challenge car.
Both Danny's and Mikes cars are not rose jointed race chassis but converted road car chassis,
If the above is correct then what is the point behind the ''Dont forget they have more power to start with'' quote ?
If i am wrong on any of the above calcs please accept my appologies,

The plan was to include all the Different spec TVR lap records from TVR's competing where ever they compete, and listing what series the lap time was done in. 2011 silverstone is an early edit thats crept in, still a valid tuscan class b spec time but as you say not technically a dtec time. there is a missing column in the page.
The main reason I look up lap times, which I assume is what Perry was looking for is to give you a time to aim for rather than just some willy waving listing..
To that end I was looking to get all the old TC lap record data from JR and upload that, as well as some of the classic stuff, and GT Cup etc..
Sadly though I've finally had enough of people either moaning that something they couldnt be bothered to do hasnt been done, or something that has been done hasnt been done the way they would have done it if theycould have been bothered to do it.
So I think I'll call it a day as well
