Backlit number boards

Simple question - can you cut them down slightly? We lack enough bodywork to stick it on as it is, need to cut an inch or so off them

Don't quote me on this, but I think they are made of multiple smaller panels laminated together. May be possible to remove one row? - might be worth having a word with Surelight. http://www.surelight.com/

My understanding of the regulations for illumination as that the numbers must lit and legible by the timekeepers. I have last year's EL panels, but we've gone for lighting them above with LED striplights this year. I'm quite pleased with the result:

Obviously the door in the video is dark grey, but it lights up the white background a treat.

For anyone else who is interested, the answer is as follows (direct from the manufacturer):

The panel needs to be cut so that the surface area is symmetrical either side of the seam. So, if the panel is aligned so that the wires come out of the left hand side, the seam will run horizontally. You can therefore cut an equal amount from the top and the bottom, and as much or as little as you like from the right hand side, so that the two panels that are laminated together are symmetrical either side of the seam.

Once the panel is cut, the edges need sealing with clear tape to insulate the electrodes.
