Would Hamilton cut it away from McLaren?
Discussion
Over the past few months, I've been getting the impression that Hamilton's stock at McLaren is sliding. He has been calamitous with his overtakes and there doesn't seem to be the same relationship with the team anymore.
Button has really stood out this year, when many, especially on here, said he would be bossed by Hamilton.
The team has revolved around him for a number of years now, but if that changed and he moved, could he hack it at another team? There are only two teams with better cars, and he wouldn't be number one at either of those...

Well if he's having issues with Button at Mclaren, I fear Seb at RedBull or Alonso at Ferrari would be even worse - there's Mercedes I suppose and he's used to being team-mates with Nico if he's happy racing for fourth..... I don't think RedBull nor Ferrari are options for Lewis though and therein lies the problem - there is no alternative to Mclaren... Shame we missed out on Alonso/Hamilton in 2008 really.
His options are stay at McLaren or go to Mercedes when Schumi calls it a day (he's not going to Red Bull with Vettel there and even without the Alonso factor, he's not a Ferrari driver). . . . . IMHO he'll stay at McLaren and try to get over his current issues . . . . . .if he can do what Senna did and learn to finish races and think the long game, he may be able to win another title, if he can't and McLaren can't give him a dominant car, he's stuffed as JB whilst a little slower in terms of ultimate one lap pace, seems at the moment to be the better world championship prospect
Interesting to see Mclaren's negotiating position wrt both Lewis and Button - can't see Lewis wanting to leave Mclaren for Mercedes (and Mclaren would know this!) but I'd say Button's got a good chance of more cash at Ferrari. But can't see Lewis happy to be paid less than Jenson for 2013-14 though.... I think Jenson's manager is going to have the easier job.
both drivers should be on the same wage if ont he same length of contract, put has incentives for race wins, finishing bonuses etc.
Hamilton is a brilliant driver however he has been brought up and into racing by McLaren and for him to jump teams would be a shame, much like Sebastian, Red Bull have built him and he owes everything to them. In McLaren Lewis has a brilliant team mate who is going to only help teach Lewis you don't have to try to win and pass everyone in the first 10 laps of a race.
The only team I could see him move into would be Mercedes but not sure Rass Brawn would sign that off,

In terms of negotiating power its been a pretty pump second half of the season for Hamilton. Its not just that he keeps ending up getting penalties but he has got a reputation for it now and all the other teams and drivers will play it up as often as they can. Button has looked awesome the second half of the season and showed how to be fast, over take and finish races. Di Resta's stock is rising fast and I would love a top team to take a punt on Kobayashi. Hamiltons only real options are as you mentioned Mercedes or maybe Renualt if they sorted their act out. I think he will finish his career at McLaren, sooner or later.

T,
Load of Bull. If either driver didn't provide the results required then both companies would have had no problem shipping them out earlier in their careers. Hamilton and Vettel weren't the only ones on perspective driver programmes. Its just that they were the best of the bunch.Hamilton is a brilliant driver however he has been brought up and into racing by McLaren and for him to jump teams would be a shame, much like Sebastian, Red Bull have built him and he owes everything to them. T,
Hamilton was out of contract for a month during his teen years. Thankfully Hamilton won a 2 part race starting from the back in a privateer car in asia - which forced Mcalren to improve their contract offer.
Wouldn't be suprised if JB beats Hammy this year. One has levelled up and another down. I think Hammy has yet to change his short game approach which is more suited to re-fueling races.
This year the most popular thing during interviews with race drivers are busting the balls of Webber/Hamilton and to a lesser extent Massa. All 3 are partly to blame for this.
Interesting comments coming from Anthony Hamilton
“You look up and down the pit lane and every driver, except for Lewis, has a driver-manager in his life, not people from a company,” he said.
“I am sure his management are very good – I don’t know – but Formula One drivers need people personally involved in the driver’s lives because it is a big pressure.
“They have got to be here and I don’t think you can do the job by sending someone else.
I don’t know any other driver-manager who sends someone else to do the job"
I think he should get back to managing Lewis.

Indeed. Interesting to see how his new management play the negotiations with Mclaren in order to justify their presumably large retainer/percentage of earnings in the absence of any realistic alternatives for Lewis to Mclaren.... I'm guessing they'd want a no.1 get the performance bits before the other guy contract and lots more cash/room to negotiate other deals and merchandising - not sure how that approach will play out if Jenson can maintain his current form.“You look up and down the pit lane and every driver, except for Lewis, has a driver-manager in his life, not people from a company,” he said.

He's doing a steller job with Di Resta. I love how Di Resta seems to always have the time for BBC interviews engaging with the viewers more (raising his stock amongst the public). Di Resta is definatley World Championship material.“You look up and down the pit lane and every driver, except for Lewis, has a driver-manager in his life, not people from a company,” he said.

Please do not troll, if Lewis was on Button´s second place today, he would have fought Vettel hard and very probably won. Mclaren knows that very well. He was unlucky in qualifying and start of the race(blocked by Weber), not his fault. Button has really stood out this year, when many, especially on here, said he would be bossed by Hamilton.

That is based solely on opinion and little else. He was unlucky at the start i agree, but his race was truely ruined when he went into the back of Massa, which was his fault, and unfortunately is not surprising in a season that has been littered with mistakes he should not be making.Lewis on form is magic to watch, but Lewis is currently very, very far from being on form. Jenson meanwhile is at the peak form of his life.

I'm the troll? Run along, Mystic Meg.
If LH went up for grabs the other teams would fall over themselves to sign him up, with the possible exception of Ferrari. And even they might go "Massa: f
k off. Alonso: deal with it.", if the spoils (i.e. poss. WDC and constructor's) seemed attainable.
The team that succeeds with LH will be the one that, however they choose to do it, either by big stick or sports psychologist, sorts his f
king head out.
The chap can clearly drive.
