What if Lewis hadn't won the title in 2008

Was driving this morning and thinking, would Lewis be held in the same regard now if he hadn't won the 2008 championship? Would Massa be in the pickle he is now in? Would Lewis be more focussed?

This isn't meant to be a hater thread but mearly a what if thread?

The architect, he had championship in his hands also in his first year, so better question is : what if Lewis won championship in his first year(against Alonso), PLUS THIS ONE IN 2008.

Obviously he wouldn't be held in the same regard if he wasn't a WDC.

It's like saying if Schumacher had won 0 WDC rather that 7 and 91 fewer wins would he be held in the same regard?

It's a good job for everybody Lewis got past Glock on the last corner in interlagos. Imagine that stewards 'decision' in Spa costing you a championship. Or that one in Fuji where the Mclarens were given drive thrus for running wide in turn 1 along with 90% of the field. I'm sure there's several more from that year that I've forgotten.

He's regarded as the fastest driver on that grid. Not the fastest after Vettel, the fastest after Fred, but THE fastest...

He's known as a natural attacking racer, more so than anyone in F1 right now.

But because he's had an off season, and made a few blunders (as they all have, but Hamilton is an easy target) every week PH's is up in arms "he's rubbish!", "he's hit self destruct!"...

Button has been my top (of the top teams, the mid field need more TV coverage) driver this season, but Hamiltons reputation is based on his talent.

Soooo... Give it a rest, FFS.

I thought the year they were cheating they deducted points off the team but left him alone for some bizarre reason.
