Anyone been to the Japanese Grand Prix?
Discussion
Having watched the Japanese GP today and been impressed with both the quality of racing and the apparent atmosphere, the Missus and I would rather like to go at some point in the future. Anyone here been? I'd be intrigued to hear people's experience and advice.

Me and the missus have been...two years ago. We only went for race day as it's not the easiest of trips as we were based in Tokyo for that weekend.
The atmosphere was good, not as good as Spa but that's only because we couldn't communicate with very many people. I don't remember there being as much to do as other circuits and the trip back to Tokyo was long as the queues were big...we were with my Brother-In-Law who could speak rudimentary Japanese which was very handy as the normally flawless public transport couldn't cope with the demand and we had to reroute. We'd probably still be there if it wasn't for him.
Aside from that, well worth going...but make a big trip of it. We had three weeks in Japan...an amazing place that is amazingly expensive.
If you go, order what was known as Kangaroo TV but has been re-branded as FanTV. You get the same visual feed as BBC and Radio 5 Live commentary.
If you have any specific questions, I'll ask Mrs Hondafanatic as, being a woman, she has a better memory for detail than me. (Or it seems that way as she recalls a sarcastic comment I may have made in 1994, May, 5th, at 13:24, I was wearing a blue jumper)

this is the first year i've not been for maybe 5 years. i love it, even tho i was always on the 'other' side of the fence. the atmosphere is fantastic at the track, the fans are genuine and the japanese people are completely amazing. you will not see any other race track (WDC race or not) where the grandstand fans will sit there for 4 hours after the race watching the teams all pack up and politely applauding!! it's such a special place (especially suzuka rather than Fuji). and whilst you're there you can check out tokyo and kyoto too, both of which are fantastic
