Hui binned it on the last corner going for a final podium, but still clinched the crown.

Really pleased for Hugh, and equally gutted for Andy I k ow how much the championship cn start to mean when you get close.

Thank you guys for your congratulations and to everyone of the competitors, organisers and followers of the DETC for a great year. I would especially like to say thanks to Andy Race who must be absolutely gutted that his car let him down so close to a championship win. Andy couldn't have been more gracious.

I owe a heap of thanks to Dave Huckle, Pete Mason and also James Huckle who have kept the car going and will now have to put it back together again. James wanted to learn how to do fibreglass repair so he has now got a really good opportunity!! Thanks also to Pete Longman who spannered the car at Donington.

The championship means everything to me after 32 years of racing and took the pain out of one of the biggest shunts I have had. There is going to be a lot of work to do to get the car out for next season but I am pleased to say that the only real damage I suffered personally was to my ego!! It just proves that old boys are still boys!!

Congratulations and glad to hear you're alright Hui. Must say, I was more than a bit worried as you dumped it right where I was stood. It was a helluva shunt and you did look shaken when you got out of the car. I won't post the pictures on here, in the interests of good taste. Good luck putting it back together again in readiness for next season.
