Pretty simple question who do you think is the next big thing and why? Feel free to include pictures and video to back up your choice.
I've got a feeling Mirko Bortolotti could be a future F1 champ (although I said the same about Heikki Kovalainen after he won the ROC). Other than that I don't know enough to speculate on anyone else but would love to know who we should be looking out for in the next couple of years.

Daniel Ricciardo (sp?) once he is in a proper car.

Scott Malvern is a possible, as is Kevin Magnussen but one has little or no money and the other little or no luck.
I'm looking forward to watching Sainz Jr next year and from what I have heard he should be in the top 3 of British F3 next year.

Obviously biased somewhat by nationality, but here goes:
Richie Stanaway - cleaned up German F3 this year with 13 wins from 18 starts, also had a race win in his debut GP3 meeting at Spa. Young kid going places.

Hayden Paddon - His first full season in PWRC and he's taken the title with 2 rounds to go, winning 4 from 4 including record victory margins of nearly 8 minutes at WRC Portugal and Finland. Also 6th overall at WRC Aus in a Group-N car isn't too shabby!

When are they going to be doing this though? There is a lot of strength in depth on the grid at the moment. Seb and Lewis will be battling it out for a long while yet! ajprice said:

Can't see it. Vettel is very young, Hamilton is no oldie. They will be in the top teams for some time.Kobyashi has some brilliant moments but also some very inconsistent ones. Alguesuari, Perez and Ricciardo haven't shown anything spectacular to suggest they are title contenders IMO.
Di Resta seems to have shone (on the track) so I could see him in a top team soon.

Really? I haven't seen it. Like the others, he's had his moments. But he's been too inconsistent, and has been outscored by Sutil. I just haven't seen anything that says he's WDC material. Pérez is probably the best of the current new drivers, but I'm still not sure he's going to be winning championships. The closest to that I've seen has been Hülkenberg, which is why I really hope he gets a drive next season.Tet said:

Well I can only speak personally but DiResta has made mistakes but i'd say if anything he's pushing too hard. I'd say in relation to his experience in F1, he's one to watch.Only time will tell who of us wins the lolly.

wasn't it A1GP that Nico cleaned up in and destroyed most of the field? I'd say that's where most people sat up and noticed. His performance was far less convincing in his 1st euro series season though. I do think he is a future champion though.Tjw85 said:

He won it, but I wouldn't say he cleaned up - in fact it was his dirty racing that put me off him! More than once he only beat Johnny Reid (who finished 2nd that season in the sister car from that team) by running him off the track when Reid was faster. My memory could be a bit fuzzy though, it was a few years ago.Edited by GravelBen on Wednesday 19th October 11:30
