is drifting a sport - continued

a while back there was a thread running hear to that effect, might have been a poll, search is not working for me atm.

was just going to add the following to it....

make up you own mind, i cant work out who wins, other than i think its Nissan.

Such as bigger better held drift=More points =winner.
And some various other factors by judges.

Its a motorsport with some high levels of competition and driver skill.
D1GP for example is impressive.

Drifting fulfils the definition of the word "sport" it also fulfils the definition of the word "Motorsport"

Go and watch a round, then you will appreciate it and realise its normally very easy to spot the winner (the fastest car without errors).

I'd say it was a competition but not a sport. Sports are defined by definites (fastest, biggest, longest), while competitions are defined by subjectives (most stylish, prettiest). So the 100m is a sport, whilst Ice Dancing, Drifting, Ski Jumping etc are competitions.

So the fact that ski jumping is in the olympic games which is a series of sporting events is null and void?

Drifting is a bit like diving, diving is a swimming pool sport but not a race. Uses the same equipment just in a different way. I dont hear people saying Diving is not a pool sport.

To answer your question directly. This is practice / demo, there are no winners in the linked video. Its like finding a winner in FP1.

The real question is, why does anyone care?

If you enjoy it great, do it, watch it etc. If not just let the people that do enjoy it get on with it.

Nope, was at Knutstorp Circuit in Sweden and it wasn't intentional, I lost it at some silly speed, back catching the front under braking but managed to collect it up. I couldn't do it deliberately even if I tried. It was a press day hence the photographers.

Probably, the question was is it sport, it’s a spectacle but once you have seen it, it's boring, a bit like Terry Grant who goes to all the big events, brilliant the first time!
