Brands day to Night race 18th/19th Nov, who's running?

Just wondered who may be entering this final race of the 2011 season. I gather that there is now NO exclusive test day so unless one arranges to join the general test day directly with Brands, it's straight into qualifying late on Friday the 18th.
Still, it saves on entry fees so that's a positive, and the general test day is somewhat cheaper but with all and sundry on track, how much time would you get between the red flags !!!

This is the first I've heard about no testing on the Friday..? Any official confirmation Britcar? Got an invoice that states testing here and a second driver that's expecting it?

The amount we would need to charge for testing to break even on the hire costs makes it untenable for the track time we would be able to offer (i.e. we wouldn't get enough takeup at the price we'd need to charge it at to break even). As Brands don't need to charge themselves track hire they are able to offer the testing at a much better price for you guys and we all know budgets are tight at this time of year so we have passed it back to Brands to keep those costs down.
It is something we will be discussing for next season in our next managers meeting at Brands Hatch, do you want exclusive testing next year?

I wanted to book the half day session as all I need to do is run in a gearbox, they are happy to offer this but if you need a garage it's £79 regardless of how long you use it. The other problem is that although you can rent a garage, they may not be able to offer you the one that you are allocated for Britcar as part of the main race fee, so you may have to move. In addition, because it is now an open test day, the garages won't be available until the test day finishes so Britcar teams will have about 45 mins at best to set up before qualifying begins, and that's if the test day team move out immediately. I can see a situation whereby we will all be setting up in the paddock for qualifying and then moving to the garages later unless we can have some form of arrangement with Brands to resolve the garage situation, i.e. Those who wish to test and pay the extra for the garage can at least stay put and not be asked to move and any spare garages can be used by the Britcar teams FOC but only for setting up, not if one is testing.
I realise that this is all about money, and Brands have a valid point if we at Britcar can't summon up enough teams/drivers to cover the charges Brands impose, but I for one would have liked the option to have known about this issue and to establish what the extra cost may have been. I dare say it would have cost a small fortune and therefore a non runner, but it would have been nice to have a say. Each team/car will be charged £1800 plus vat for 90 mins testing and a 3 hour race, at this time of the year I would have thought Brands would be glad of the income and frankly, they could have compromised by having the morning session as "open" but without garages bar those unallocated to Britcar, and the afternoon session as exclusive to Britcar so we could all set up properly and be treated with a modicum of respect for the fees that we are paying!!

We are discussing with Brands these very points and aim to have all Britcar teams who are testing and using a garage to be put in the garage they will have for the rest of the meeting.
Rod, would it not be more cost effective to run the 'box in on a rolling road? Oh, and unfortunately you were about 30%-40% out in your figures assuming everyone who raced (on the expected grid size) also tested.

Don't understand point two, part two, please explain
I see now, it's my mistake, I meant 90 min qualifying, not testing, plus a 3 hour race for £1800 plus vat, my point being that Brands should welcome that level of income or a share of it, if I understand your point, Britcar are looking at a heavy loss based on race entry verses Brands track charges 
Just booked an afternoon test session directly with Brands to run in our new gearbox and test our lights etc and established that by the time you have paid for the afternoon sessions, and the garage @£79, (that they say you can stay in), plus the additional drivers fees @ £50 each,the cost was not that far off what Britcar were going to charge for a Britcar only test day and if you added a value for the exclusive aspect, frankly, Britcar are probably cheaper !!!!
Looking at the forthcoming race, we know that the class 2 and overall GT Champions have been settled, now it's just a case of establishing class 1 and class 3 positions and 2nd and 3rd overall. It appears to be a very close contest with perhaps only one point or so separating those with a chance of filling the available finishing slots so should be quite exciting.
We have a chance in both the class 3 and overall standings so will be doing our best to retain our reliability record but there is many a slip twixt cup and lip so along with the other competitors challenging for these honours, we will be keeping our fingers crossed. Frankly, I hope that nobody has a DNF or such, as it will be far more fun to battle this out on the track with all honours even so with that in mind, may I take this opportunity to wish all challengers the best of luck on the day/night and may the best car/team win.

David, im pretty sure that when the red lights go out and the race starts, things will be settled, the only thing preventing that would be a mishap which would prevent them from taking the start, which no-one would wish upon anyone else. Especially as they have made the effort to be there when they could have shipped the car off to Dubai. Rods right though, theres still plenty to play for and it will be exciting.

Sorry to highjack your thread guys but booked tickets for my son and I and really looking forward to it. We go to Brands quite regularly but haven't caught the Britcar there before.
It would be good to get a close look at the cars and say hi to any of you guys (when convenient), are any of you going to be based in the paddock (if it's open to public) or are you all based in the pits?

I think most, if not all of us, will be in the garages but you shouldn't have any problems in visiting any of the teams in the pits. Just talk to a team member or driver and I'm sure you will get a welcome from them, they are all very happy to see spectators and Britcar fans so don't be afraid to enquire. Pop in to garage 15 if you like, (Hawthorns/Neil Garner Motorsport) and you might get a cup of tea and a close up of the 997 GT3 we race,ask for Rod.It would be good to get a close look at the cars and say hi to any of you guys (when convenient), are any of you going to be based in the paddock (if it's open to public) or are you all based in the pits?

Would be great to have a look at the car Rod, we'll see if we can pop our heads in, thanks. Do you guys enjoy Brands? I've done a few track days there and had a half days instruction as well, Paddock Hill is breathtaking (when you get it right!) cheers

As a seasoned brands veteren you and your son will have no issues getting in the pitlane for the britcar meeting.
In fact i was wandering around the pitlane during the stops during the lotus race on saturday! This kind of access really adds something to the experience and brands as well as the organisers and teams should be applauded for allowing it.
Ive had to miss the last two years night races through working but am able to make it this year, i cant wait
Will the Aquilla or any Moslers be out?

Brands Indy is one of my favorites although the GP is a touch more interesting !!Ian
Paddock is great fun in daylight but very challenging, and one hell of an adrenaline buzz at night when you can't really see that much
Oh, our garage has changed, we are now in 12 and to answer the last poster, I think there will be one Mosler in the race.
