He came across as a humble but very charismatic bloke, and since his accident seems completely oblivious to his injuries.

Best racing driver to "walk" the planet? Not he fastest of course (though in America he was bloody good) but in terms of life outside of the sport I can't think of anyone who comes close.
To be a world beater once is impressive enough, to lose that and your legs and to come back as a racing driver is massive in itself, however to then decide to do something else entirely and keep winning is pretty humbling.
