Honda eyes F1 return with McLaren

Honda could be looking to return to formula one in 2014, according to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.
The report said the Japanese manufacturer having pulled out of formula one as an engine and chassis maker in 2008 might reunite with McLaren.
"The chances are good that with the introduction of the turbo V6s in 2014, Honda will celebrate a comeback with McLaren," read the German report.
The Woking based team's current engine supplier Mercedes, formerly a McLaren co-owner, will actually charge McLaren for the use of its 2.4 litre V8s in 2013, the report added.
"A senior manager said at Suzuka that technically Honda is getting ready to return with a turbo V6 from 2014. Only the green light of the board is missing," said Auto Motor und Sport.

How awesome would it be to go back to red and white McLaren? Probably not too likely as that was Marlboro's colours, but with some slight modification, have Honda championship white, with splashes of red for the Vodafone logos, and replace Marlboro with Vodafone on the engine cover, and hey presto! Now all we need is the blue, yellow and white Williams and we are sorted!

I'd tread carefully with Honda. They are fickle. They come, they go and they go at the most inopportune times.

Isn't the Mercedes engine still the most powerful and regarded as the best?!? Also when Honda were a works team there engine wasn't regarded as very good....hence Brawn getting a deal with Merc! Think Mclaren should try and stick with Merc or make their own engine.
Maybe if Honda are only an engine supplier, their resources will be much more focused, resulting in a better engine?
Unless they extend it again, Vodafone sponsorship ends at the end of 2013. If they change sponsors at the same time as getting Honda engines, I hope they go with their own orange colour. I do always hope they do this whenever there is a change in the team though, they ran orange cars in testing a few years ago when they had West sponsorship and (I think) DC and Mika driving.
