New Motor Racing Circuit for Wales?
Discussion
Good for Wales!
just a shame all the trackdays it will probably put on will be full of the badly mofified Blackwood cruising boys!

- Blackwood Cruisers are the Welsh answer to Barryboys . . . . Saxo/Nova/Corsa/Fiestas all with HUGE badly fitted/fillerd bodykits. as big and as many a 'zorst as they could find and lowered and pumping the bass to within an inch of its life!
Superb news if it happens, that would be Castle Combe (20mins), Thruxton (45mins) and this circuit all pretty much on my doorstep.
Having said that, they've been trying to build a cinema in the town nearest to me for 12 years now, even with planning permission and a chain on-board it's just not happening. I guess these things take time.

Does the UK really need another racing track, does South Wales really need a racing track?
probably not and yesedit
Llandow and Pembrey arent exactly top notch circuits, especially if their looking to host BTCC/WTCC/MotoGP. it will probably cost close to the budget to get those 2 to that standard (i assume anyhoo)

South Wales already has 2 - Llandow and Pembury. The question is do they need a 3rd (to compete with Anglesey in North Wales
)
Llandow hardly counts as a motorsport venue, particularly one with a 200m budget! Not a bad little test track/trackday but as far as i'm aware there is no actual racing held there.
)Pembery is too far from the chimney pots. One here would have pull from the midlands, M4 corridor. North and South wales and the Southwest. The others are all nice circuits but limited in what they can host. One where it is mentioned would tick a lot boxes, but without a massive chunk of development aid from the assembly it is a none starter

Hay leave the blackwood cruisers alone they are not doing anybody any harm just stuffy locals that don't want anybody to have fun. To be honest its not my cup of tea but they are still in too cars just as much as we are any way this new track would give them somewhere to go instead of going up and down the high street.just a shame all the trackdays it will probably put on will be full of the badly mofified Blackwood cruising boys!

This is good for wales llandow is hardly up there in circuit terms no actuall racing goes on the biggest events are sprints and driffting. Pembrey is out of the way and more in west wales than south and again the track is not up to much, they have built a new pit area but its not fantastic.
If it does go ahead then it will give a hugh boost to the local are providing jobs and people coming to the area that wouldn't normally go there. Plus its only 20mins away and if big events like bsb, btcc, wtcc then im all for it.
Where it is i can't see anybody complaining about it but you never know. Also if it is built to standards like rockingham which holds the btcc then we will se a champonship that covers nearly every part of the country.
I believe this is the industrial estate where they are planning on building this.

Considering the amount of houses right on its doorstep then I really can't see this happening and if it does then as stated earlier it will just end up as another white elephant like Rockingham.

How is rockingham a white elephant there is racing there all year round. Its one of the best facilities in the uk when it was built even better than silverstone at the time. I can't see it as a white elephant, for it to be a white elephant then they wouldn't be any racing there.http://g.co/maps/285pa

I was refering to the earlier comment about it being loaded with noise restrictions thus not allowing it to fulfill its potential. Sure it gets plenty of racing there but how many big international events do you see there although perhaps it was never designed for big international events in which case I will retract my comment.

It was built for CART to race around on, it didn't last sadly and neither NASCAR nor INDYCAR will run on it because it's not to the specs those series have (no SAFER barrier). And it needs them as despite being very tight the lap record is a faintly silly 221mph!Forums | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
