Redbull - Speed off the Start Line?

Anyone heard this story?

They (Redbull) were using exhaust gases to heat the hub/tyre/wheel on the formation lap. Also going slow so the others tyres cool down. Apparently it overheated Vettel's tyre at Abu Dhabi and thats why it punctured?

was there not an auction recently that had RB7 rims.. they were pulled due to being "sensitive"

They were not that spectacular off the line though. Alonso and Schumacher were the ones who always seemed to start well.

Vettel's RB was, even if Webber's wasn't.

They were definitely running something to help them break the DRS zone before it was activated.

What makes you believe it's "definite"?

I think the concept is obvious, but haven't seen any technical analysis to suggest that RBR is using it, and is the only team to use it.

Yes, the Bonhams Mercedes Benz World auction catalogue has had the bodywork and wheel lots removed and replaced with more crappy race wear.

The wheels do look pretty fancy hence why they may have removed from the auction

I did think in Abu Dhabi on the run up to the start line, Vettel did one or two more burn outs than normal prior to the race start. It wouldn't surprise me that the heat affected the carcass of the tyre and as soon as he loaded it up it failed. Obviously it's all speculation but considering the the Newey design team are very, very inventive in regards to aerodynamics and also heat management then I wouldn't put it past them.

Wouldn't heating up the the rear tyres create a big handling imbalance with the fronts being relatively cool. I have never noticed the RB's having any significant understeer on the first couple of laps.
