RE: Time for tea? Vettel and Button as stand-up
Tuesday 6th December 2011

On Sunday the great and the good of the motorsport world gathered for the annual black-tie-and-posh-frock celebration of racing that is the Autosport Awards.
Time for tea? Vettel and Button as stand-up
Proof that modern motor racing is a sport for human beings and not corporate robots

Unsurprisingly, Sebastian Vettel walked away with International Racing Driver of the Year, while Jenson Button picked up the British Racing Driver award. So far, so 'meh'.
But... the 'acceptance' speeches of the two F1 stars are brilliant. It's probably too much to say that Vettel and Button missed their calling as comedians, but Vettel's Kimi Raikkonen impression and Button's digs at Steve Rider and Sky are proof that top line motorsport racers can do more than just toe the corporate line.

I was lucky enough to go to Autosport Awards Dinners through the 90's.
If you think those speeches are good you should have heard Ayrton Senna speaking at those do's
You had a room full of ego's, but you could have heard a pin drop, from start to finish.
The whole audience was hanging on his every word.
I don't want to sound sycophantic but the guy was a god.
When Nigel Mansell got up to speak, people would generally switch off.
If anyone can find any of Ayrton's Autosport Award speeches on the web, please post them on this thread
Please
